Even if they are allowed to land, there are immigration control and checks to be done which is not available for commercial passengers and secondly pax will then leave without their luggage as there are no ground equipment to unload the cargo containers with the baggage. Alternate airports for Changi are basically BTH, JHB and KUL.
Some passengers are allowed to disembark at QPG if they do not have luggage and they choose to disembark there.

ICA do have teams for such contingencies but they need to be activated.

    • Wouldn't that be possible at XSP with the opening of the passenger terminal for turboprops there (ie. permanent ICA operation and perhaps commercial ground handling)? Could just be a matter of bringing those pax to the XSP terminal, then they can get out from there or arrange to have a bus bring them to Changi.

      • Seems like they've re-scheduled SQ918 to depart at 0230 (in advance this time) for 26JAN till 28JAN. There is no SQ918 service today (25JAN20).

There is also an additional SQ920 service on 29JAN that follows current SQ918 timings.
        STD: 0230
        STA: 0610

SQ920|29JAN is not an additional service but is merely SQ918 on 28JAN renumbered (to avoid clashing with SQ918|29JAN) and retimed to depart later. Same case for the missing SQ918 service today (25JAN) which has been retimed to depart later at 0230 on 26JAN.

                • Just flew on SYF yesterday to Manila and also noticed that it was heavily delayed the day before for no apparent reason when operating the HND flight. Time for some brand new A350-1000s!!!

                      • Off topic... has Boeing pulled out of the Singapore Airshow?
It’s B772 EcoDemonstrator N772ET flew out of Seattle on fri via Osaka... but returned to Seattle last night instead of continuing on to Singapore. That craft was supposed to be on site for the airshow.

Boeing only shelved plans to bring the aircraft over for static display. The company will still be present at the airshow.
