I suppose only through passengers would have been on board so the load would have been lighter and without cargo as has been suggested.

    • Seem like HK airport have just suspended all check in activities. Wonder SQ2 will be affected today or not.

Edit: seem like Flights are still departing n arriving but mostly will depart without paxes as check in is still closed

Transfer pax only, that's what CX did yesterday. SQ could probably opt to cancel some flights and consolidate pax?

As for SQ2, they should be fine, probably will fly HKG-SFO with only through pax (if they don't again fly non stop and/or cancel and rebook everyone on SQ34/33)

I doubt rebooking on SQ34/33 is viable since it’s a ULR flight with only J and PEY seats.

Seems like SQ2 operated the SIN-HKG sector but HKG-SFO sector got cancelled?

You mean today? So far it is still schedule to fly to SFO. But don’t think SQ2 is able to take in any Paxes from HK since check in is closed.

Yes, SQ2 on 13AUG. I guess the situation is very fluid? FR24 and HKIA Departure Information earlier had indicated SQ2 as cancelled. But now the flight seems to be operating with a slight delay.

                • Looks like there were some trouble getting SQ2 out with some commotion between police and protesters in the terminal, FR24 has a departure time of 0042.

Now enroute to SFO. If I were SQ I'd seriously proactively consider additional non stop capacity for people who don't want to risk it.

                  • so did SQ2 on Aug 13 stopped in HKG for no passenger loading/unloading reason?

I think FR24 indication is for the previous day. Didn’t saw it reflect as cancel for 13/8

Pax going to HK can deplane. But paxes boarding at HK might have issue as check in closed at 430pm. Unless they do online Checkin n do not have checked luggage and need to get past the crowds.

Heard that CX715 last night have to offload luggage for around 105 paxes as these paxes are checked in but unable to get through the crowds to go through security n immigration.

                        • Wonder if SQ will reduce its flight frequencies to HKG now as am sure the number of pax going to HKG would have been reduced since last month and should be even less after these 2 days of mayhem at HKIA.

                          • SQ doesn't have a travel waiver in place (unlike the US airlines or Cathay) so everyone should be flying as booked, but perhaps some consolidation may be in order the next schedule change if bookings are bad enough.

Could probably use the extra planes given that MI's MAXes are still grounded.
