There is also free wireless Internet covering almost the entire airport terminal.

Just associate to the network "Internode" and log in as a guest. (Guest access is web/http/https access only)

There are also a heap of access points around Adelaide that can be used too. (there are even a few in the other states too and some regional airports)

        Coverage is here: https://hotspot.internode.on.net/coverage/

And it's great. There are a few wired points (ethernet) if i recall correctly as well. It should be standard in all airports i think.

Hi 9V-SRR, maybe i know you , maybe not. My name is Tony Haynes from the West Beach Aviation Group. You seem to be right up to date with the SQ movements through Adelaide. Ive been photographing Sq through ADl since 1987. I was down at the long term carpark for 9V-STG's first visit to ADL today. Maybe one day we can meet up in the terminal as im there most days spotting. Hopefully STC and STD come in this week. Winter time is the best time to get great shots of the SQ movements through ADL.

Aaah.... I've never tried the long term car park. Usually either go inside the terminal or if I've got my car Trennery or Britton Street. So is the LTCP a good place for spotting and are there any other good locations?

Adelaide Airport is very good for taking photos. The end of Richmond Rd is quite good and if you go and park bye the security gate by the Buttercup Bakery, that is probably one of the best spots in the mornings.
I do most of my spotting from the terminal and im pretty well known in the terminal now, well enough that i sometimes get free drinks in the bar when the right barman is on.

                              Updated ADL Airport Information

This page hasn't been updated for a while, so I thought it would be timely to do so.

                              GENERAL AIRPORT INFORMATION

Adelaide Airport (ADL) is located on the eastern shores of Gulf St Vincent, some 6 km west of the Central Business District (CBD) of the City of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.

                              www.adelaideairport.com.au

Adelaide Airport is a multi-user terminal catering for all regional, domestic and international flights and is open from 4am to 11pm.

                              Check-In and Gate Assignments

The Check-In Area for all flights (except flights operated by Alliance, Cobham Aviation and China Southern Airlines) can be found on Level 2 of the terminal.

Check-in and bag drop facilities for flights operated by Alliance, Cobham Aviation and China Southern Airlines (CZ) are located at the far end of the general arrivals concourse on Level 0 adjacent to the last domestic baggage carousel. After check-in, passengers must proceed to Level 2 to complete security clearance and to access the departures concourse.

If entering the terminal from the short term car-park, pedestrian plaza or the general arrivals concourse on Level 0, take the lifts or escalators to the departures concourse located on Level 2. There is also direct access to the terminal from Level 2 of the short term car-park.

A number of airport volunteers (in red uniforms) are also available who can direct you to the relevant check-in desk.

After passing through the central security check point (which both passengers and visitors must pass through) you will enter the departures concourse. Generally specific gates are used by each airline as follows:

Gate 10 - Regional Flights (operated by Regional Express - ZL)
                              Gates 12,19, 23, 24 - Tiger Air (TT)
Gates 12 to 15 - Virgin Australia (VA)
Gates 16 to 22 - International Flights (Currently SQ, MH, NZ, CX, EK. QR, FJ, JQ, CZ)
                              Gates 23 to 26 - Qantas & Qantaslink(QF) and Jetstar (JQ)
Gate 50 – Regional Flights (operated by Alliance – QQ and Cobham Aviation - NC)

Gates 16 to 22 are also used for domestic flights when not being used for International flights. At Check-In passengers will be advised which gate their flight will operate from. It is unusual for a gate change to be made but passengers should check the monitors for any updates. Airlines do make boarding announcements.

                              Lounges

QF, VA and SQ operate their own lounges.
For domestic passengers, the Qantas Club is located opposite Gate 21, whilst the Virgin Australia Lounge is located in the main concourse opposite the International Departures Passport Control.
The SQ lounge is accessible to passengers after clearing customs.

                                TRAVELLER INFORMATION

                                Arrivals - International

On deplaning from an international flight, passengers are directed to the International Arrivals Concourse on Level 1 to complete immigration vetting by Australian Border Force Officers.

There is a Duty Free shop on arrival just before passport control, operated by Aelia Duty Free stores. On arrival you actually pass through the Duty Free Store before reaching passport control. Prices tend to be competitive although many of the souveneir type items are actually cheaper outside of the airport.

Passengers may pre-order duty free online at www.aeliadutyfree.com.au

                                Immigration

Everyone who arrives at an Australian airport must present their travel documents and Incoming Passenger Card (IPC) to officers in immigration clearance.

If you are not an Australian citizen, you must hold a valid visa or authority to enter Australia. This must be arranged before travelling to Australia. Special provisions apply to most New Zealand citizens, and to people eligible to transit Australia without a visa.

If you arrive without a valid travel document, visa or authority to enter Australia, you may be delayed until your identity and claims to enter Australia are checked. If you do not meet immigration clearance requirements, you may be refused entry to Australia.

The Australian Border Force also operates SmartGates to enable eligible travellers arriving at Australia’s eight major international airports the option to self-process through passport control. It provides a secure and efficient way to clear through passport control.

Arrivals SmartGate uses the information in ePassports and facial recognition technology to perform checks usually conducted by an Australian Border Force officer.

                                Quarantine

After clearing Immigration, passengers are directed to Level 0 for baggage collection, quarantine and customs vetting.

As a number of international flights arrive during the early morning within close proximity of each other (SQ, CX, MH and JQ), quarantine and customs can be very busy. International flights arriving mid-morning (NZ) or late afternoon / early evening (CZ , EK, QR and FJ) tend not to be subject to as much impact.

Passengers from all incoming flights will be thoroughly vetted regardless of whether they present items for declaration due to the tendency of passengers particularly arriving from Asia to be in possession of items forbidden by Australian quarantine laws like wooden articles, dried or fresh foods or plant material and then unknowingly failing to declare them.

Quarantine vetting at ADL tends to be very strict due to the States fruit fly control. The officers tend to work through the queue and will indicate on your arrival card whether you need to have your bags checked. There questions seem to be predominantly based on where you have come from and whether you know what the limits/restrictions are.

Having cleared customs, passengers exit the restricted area into the general arrivals concourse.

                                Transfer to Domestic/Regional Flights

If transferring to a domestic or regional flight on Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, Tiger or Regional Express, after exiting the restricted area into the general arrivals concourse on Level 0, proceed to Level 2 to complete check-in, bag drop, security clearance and to access the departures concourse.

Note that the check-in and bag drop facilities for flights operated by Alliance or Cobham Aviation are located at the far end of Level 0 adjacent to the last domestic baggage carousel. After check-in, proceed to Level 2 to complete security clearance and to access the departures concourse.

                                Arrivals - Domestic

Passengers arriving on domestic flights (except flights operated by Regional Express) deplane directly into Departures Concourse on Level 2. Follow the signs to baggage reclaim located in the general arrivals concourse on Level 0.

Passengers arriving on flights operated by Regional Express will be transferred to an adjacent terminal (Terminal 1A) for baggage reclaim.

                                Departures – Domestic & International

Check-in and bag drop for all domestic and international flights except flights operated by Alliance, Cobham Aviation and China Southern Airlines (CZ) are located on Level 2. After check-in, passengers must complete security clearance to access the departures concourse.

International passengers will need to go through secondary screening and Customs processing in order to reach their gate. Access to the Customs-controlled restricted area will open 90 minutes before departure where in addition to submitting to security screening, international passengers must also comply with LAGs (Liquids Aerosol or Gels) inspection/screening and border processing.
