Sorry if this is off topic, but why was SKO omitted?

Perhaps they didn't want some wisecrack to nickname it a "knock out". And as with SWC, a flying toilet?

It's pretty well known that SQ is a very superstitious company.

Certainly seems like it. I don't suppose they were worried that two giant flaps marked WC could be mistaken for the toilet drainage point?

Yet they don't seem to have a problem with STD or STI....

They are. Just like how J does not have a row 13

If that's the case, they really shouldn't have row 14 ... they carry more Asians than Americans.

Could they replace rows 13 & 14 with rows 7 & 8 repeated? Double the number of 'lucky rows'

This is just my guess... The abbreviations "STD" and "STI" really only means what it means if the 3 letters are used as abbreviation, whereas "KO" could mean "knock out" and "WC" could mean toilet as mentioned earlier.

And my point..? On the nose gear doors only 2 letters of the registration is painted, so you'll get KO, WC, TD and TI. If looking at those letters, only KO and WC have the potential to be mistaken for something else...

                            Just my 2 cents...
