Scoot Flight Delays & Disruptions
Following the incident of TR996/SINTPE 9V-TAU on 24MAR19, the aircraft has been ferried to KUL on 26MAR19 to KUL as TR7008/TPEKUL for retification works by Sepang Engineering (Airbus).

Wow we're doing this already? That's fast I guess.
I wonder why they aren't getting SIAEC to do it - was the bill too high? |
likely its because of lower cost and that they have the capacity to do this at the last minute. Scoot have been sending most of its planes ie ex-Tiger to KL for repainting to Scoot colors

Isn't it better from a financial standpoint for Scoot's jets to be handled by SIAEC as the money would be flowing within SIA Group rather than outside ?

More details have been revealed with regards to the TPE incident. It was mentioned in ST that the pilots switched on a back up power device(assuming it is the APU) to burn off fuel due to them coming close to an overweight landing. Why were they carrying more fuel than required ? Unexpected tailwinds ? |
Quote:
Maybe that day was unexpected quite clear so they have "extra" fuel. Also I thought TPE flight will continue to Japan right, may be the bring the fuel from SIN? |

Its interesting how the A320 can be in "over-weight" position for landing into Taipei as even if were to have a full fuel for the SIN-TPE flight it would be about 6 hours of flying, but after flying 4 hours to TPE, the plane should be able to land without being over-weight even if it had 2 or even 3 hours of fuel left.

Interesting to note that Scoot sent a replacement aircraft and why not just sent a replacement operating crew instead of together with a replacement aircraft - as then the original aircraft would be flown back empty and be a costly way.
|
TR509|01MAY (ATQ-SIN) originally operated by 9V-OFH (B788) was delayed as the aircraft AOG in ATQ. 9V-OFC (B788) was ferried to ATQ as TR5508 to rescue the stranded passengers. The passengers eventually reached Singapore after a 18hr delay.

|
TR980|12 Aug SIN-HKG turned back near Zhuhai and landed back in SIN at 20:36. Total flight time 6hr 20 mins for the A320neo 9V-TNA.
|
Fortunately its a A320NEO and that it was ferrying supposedly a full fuel load as otherwise it would not be able to fly back to SIN. Am sure they were prepared for a possible diversion as normally they will not be tankering a full fuel load and will refuel when it lands at HKG for the return flight.

Made the news: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...elled-11803022
I'm surprised they chose to turn back though, since they were already enroute they would have been allowed to land. |
NOTAM for VHHH did not permit WSJC (Singapore) flights to land at HKG during that period.

Flights that had not yet departed - those already airborne were told to continue with "expected diversion", so I guess this was the Scoot captain's call. On a side note, today's TR974 is again cancelled. (and SCMP journos fly Scoot? Oof) |
