  • Cathay Pacific Announces Corporate Restructuring, Cathay Dragon Ceases Operation

The pandemic has taken another victim, this time Cathay Dragon ceases operation, more employee layoffs, and a new contract policy for remaining crew/pilot

They are in trouble for a longer time than most airlines due to protests last year, they even slashed most schedules in advanced anticipating slow recovery in demand, they also defer their 777X order to beyond 2025, which means we won't be seeing new first/business cabin anytime soon.

Maybe they using this chance to follow SQ to axed regional brand. Actually technically CX "merged" with KA back in 2016 but still operated as separated identity maybe from what i heard was the rights problem in China?

Yes, that’s correct, other than Beijing and Shanghai, all rights are currently owned by KA. Experience wise, KA is pretty much aligned with CX regional cabins. Same product from what I experienced.
