SQTalk Rules

::::::::::::::: SQTALK TERMS OF SERVICE :::::::::::::::

Although the administrators and moderators of SQTalk will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of SQTalk, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of SQTalk reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

SQTalk Posting Guidelines

Welcome to SQTalk. We are a diverse community of people who like to travel, or to observe while they travel, united by the fact that we use, have used, or want to use a particular airline in our travels: Singapore Airlines. We formed our community based on principles of fairness, mutual respect, and mutual support.

By registering and posting on this site, you agree to join this community and abide by the following guidelines:

  1. to respect copyright laws by acknowledging your source if it is protected by copyright and, if quoting directly from copyrighted material, not posting the material in its entirety;
  2. to respect the intellectual property (including images and pictures) of other members of SQTalk.com, by asking for their permission before posting their contribution elsewhere and giving due acknowledgement when posting such material;
  3. to respect others’ opinions by avoiding personal attacks (which includes defamatory, discriminatory, vulgar, or harassing language). If you disagree with an opinion that has been expressed, you agree to critique the opinion, not the poster;
  4. not to discuss other members, when such discussions amount to personal attacks;
  5. not to post the same question, news or information in multiple forums, as this will tend to hamper the discussions’ usefulness to other members. (We’re a small community. Don’t worry, someone will find your post and if s/he knows information that can help or an opinion that can enlighten or amuse, s/he will offer it to you.);
  6. not to post with commercial or criminal intent;
  7. not to violate the privacy of other members or persons by posting private messages, emails, or contact details without their consent.
  8. not to register more than one SQTalk account or username. Moderators may allow exceptions to this clause based on individual circumstances, but you must contact sysadmin@SQTalk.com to explain why the waiver is needed. In all other instances, only one account will be allowed to remain active.

That’s it. We have a rather limited set of guidelines. SQTalk, however, reserves the right to modify the guidelines without prior notice and as needed in the future.

Judging whether someone has violated the guidelines sometimes requires subjective judgment, so SQTalk has volunteer moderators to ensure that the guidelines are respected. By registering and posting on this site, you also agree:

  1. to accept that moderators have the right to edit or delete posts, and move, lock or delete threads when they feel these support SQTalk’s aims to be informative and to foster a community of mutual respect;
  2. to discipline members whom they find in violation of these guidelines. The disciplinary action against a member of SQTalk will ordinarily escalate through the following progression: (i) first warning; (ii) second warning; (iii) seven-day suspension; (iv) fourteen-day suspension; (v) one-month suspension; (vi) permanent revocation of membership. Any disciplinary action remains on a member’s record. In cases deemed by the moderators to be sufficiently severe violations, moderators may accelerate through the normal progression of disciplinary actions;
  3. not to discuss moderator actions in the public forums, as these discussions may contain private information. We feel that in this case, the need to respect the sensitivities of any individual involved supersedes the public’s “right to know”.

In return for your commitment to the guidelines for posting, we promise you:

  • Minimal moderation
  • The right to appeal, via email, decisions that you deem unjustified. Appeals can be sent to SQTalk Admin at the address sysadmin@sqtalk.com. The decisions of SQTalk Admin are, however, final and subject to no further appeal.
  • A generally carefree, generally fun, generally supportive community with whom to share your thoughts and experiences.

Welcome!
