  • Confirmed J booking but no seat for me?

I hold a confirmed on SQ322 leaving Monday in J, but this afternoon I received a call telling me that I should standby or something as it is overbooked ! I have found another thread similar to my case but that SQtalker's was a redemption booking whereas mine is not. Any ideas what is the best thing I should do now?

Sounds like an op-up possibility in the making... do you have any status?

I am an EG member, think that will help?

Argue for an op-up or insist they give you a seat in J. Important thing with SQ is not to give in, especially since you paid for the ticket.

Don't give up that flight! SQ cannot just cancel your reservation. Just check-in late and should there be seats left in Suites, they should not downgrade you...

Agree with all the posters above. There's no way I'd accept a downgrade on a ticket I've already paid for. To me, SQ has to do one of the following:

                1. Complementary upgrade.
                2. Find you a seat in J.
                3. Offer you the option of sitting in Y and give you a full refund on your J ticket, PLUS additional compensation for the inconvenience.

I agree, except for points 2 and 3.

Update: Now they are asking for volunteers (Still no seat for me yet ). Forgot to ask what was the compensation though. So far the seats given up for compensation are for PPS members Never knew that PPS members are given priority even on overbooked flights.

                      Won't that mean a free flight if I get a Y seat?

That's probably the reason globetrekker84 disagreed with that point.

I tried a dummy booking on SQ's website and looks like there are seats in R. I'm still wondering what are my chances of getting op-upped

Don't expect it and set your expectation to fail you. J, to me at least, is more than sufficient for your flight to LHR. If you do manage to snag R, then consider it a blessing.

Do let us know how it ended, as whilst I think an opup to R is unlikely, I've nevertheless got my fingers crossed for you
