I hold a confirmed on SQ322 leaving Monday in J, but this afternoon I received a call telling me that I should standby or something as it is overbooked ! I have found another thread similar to my case but that SQtalker's was a redemption booking whereas mine is not. Any ideas what is the best thing I should do now?

Argue for an op-up or insist they give you a seat in J. Important thing with SQ is not to give in, especially since you paid for the ticket.God must have been a ship owner, he placed the raw materials far from where they are needed and covered two-thirds of the earth with water...

Agree with all the posters above. There's no way I'd accept a downgrade on a ticket I've already paid for. To me, SQ has to do one of the following:
1. Complementary upgrade.
2. Find you a seat in J.
3. Offer you the option of sitting in Y and give you a full refund on your J ticket, PLUS additional compensation for the inconvenience.

Update: Now they are asking for volunteers (Still no seat for me yet ). Forgot to ask what was the compensation though. So far the seats given up for compensation are for PPS members Never knew that PPS members are given priority even on overbooked flights.Cabin Crew, takeoff stations...
