  • Crowne Plaza Changi - High rates!

What are they thinking when they set their rates?

I just checked randomly for 4th Jan, and they wanted SG$280 a night for a standard room. Heck, even some hotels on Orchard Road charges less than that.

I guess its touting itself as being a 4 *, when it really isn't. On one of my last stays there 2 months ago, the rooms are supposed to be sound proofed. Well, they're not. Not even soundless. I can hear the aircrafts screaming throughout the night!

At 280SGD you might as well go down to big sister on Middle road - I can't believe the IC would cost more than that as an adv purchase.

GB they charge more for the convenience factor. Of course if advance sales don't happen then rates drop. For this reason I always book refundable rates unless the rate is a real steal.

As for soundproofing, it seems to vary by room (or position?). In my recent stay I also heard aircraft noise (king deluxe room), but the time before (exec suite) I did not.

You will not be able to get IC for $280 (nett) or below. But for $280 and below, you can get:

Park Hotel Clarke Quay ($209 + BF) from Otel
Conrad ($230 + BF) from Hotelclub
Mandarin Oriental ($199 + BF) from Octopustravel
        Pan Pacific ($249) from Hotelclub
        Marina Mandarin ($280+BF) from Otel
        Ritz Carlton ($260+BF) from Octopustravel

Just in case you are wondering, 2 of my colleagues are going to S'pore over the New Year period and I checked the rates for them.

BS! I'm at the IC right now on a S$207 flexible AAA rate.

For GB, corporate rates at the CP Changi are around S$160 for 4th January. Just search for the popular corporate codes on FT.

Whoa boy...I searched based on publicly available rates. GB made reference to the publicly advertised $280 (non promo/corp coded).

My bad if I am so full of "BS!".

Which is fine and dandy till you are asked to prove that you do work for that company !

In the spirit of turning over a new leaf for the new year, I'll concede that I might have gone overboard with the "BS" comment, but the AAA rates are really publicly available rates. You don't need a corporate code to use them.

Never been asked, except at Marriotts where it seems to be mandatory for some corporate codes to ask for ID at checkin. Even if you are, you can always "run out of business cards", be a consultant or be attending a job interview.

                  Hi Savage25

                  Happy New Year to you.

I am aware of promo/ copr codes but I am reluctant to suggest that avenue for reasons GB pointed out.

I might give it a go if the booking is for myself but not for others (unless with a caveat). I take it that ICH does not drill down to ID proof, at least for IC S'pore?
