  • HKG-SIN-HKG on Value fare CX

Hi all.. I took a trip to SIN with my family. I stuggled to decide Jetstar, CX or SQ, but then as i compared the prices Jetstar was 50SG$ cheaper than CX, but then i thought- widebody aircraft... meals served... IFE... 5 star airline.. why not. SQ's flights were full so CX it was

    Economy class
    CX735 HKG-SIN B772
    CX736 SIN-HKG A333(my first time!!)

Sorry but i have few pics

    At the airport
Looking forward to going to Singapore after 15 Years, i checked in online at the CX website as i always do to skip the Q, I went to the airport early so i could take my time... hoped on to the train that shuttles passengers to their gates at the other end of the terminal (some call it Skytrain, Aerotrain...). Still walking time took 12mins to get to my gate.

I spotted this KLM Cargo 744F

Boarding was quick, and i had the barcode style BP so just a scan and my entire BP could be added to my collection

    Whats's On board
At the door we were greeted with a smile from one of the FAs. Our seats were 42F,G,H,I. We did'nt get to experience the new shell seats, but as far as I can remember, I experienced the shell seat twice already. No hot/cold towels were given(part of the cutting cost plan i guess) The captain made an announcement before pushback, telling us that it was cloudy in SIN..... and what they would usally say. The new safety video was shown as the Rolls Royce trent 895s came alive. After an 8 minute taxi we took off, somehow 2 minutes behind ETD.

15 minutes later the seatbelt sign was off, and the IFE kicked in. First was a video of CX's world class service, and the movies started. I watched 'My mom's new boyfriend' and somewhere over the Phillipines drinks were served. They had a variety of drinks available which included Juices, teas, soft drinks, and coffee. After the drink service was peanuts.

Somwhere over Northen Vietnam was the meal service. For Y there was Chicken and rice or fish and potatoes. I took the fish which was not bad i admit along with the tray came some fruits, ice-cream, and a bun.

What I enjoy about the 777 are the wide aisles, large overhead compartments and it's less noisy compare to many other jets. In their In-flight magazine i learnt that the aircraft i'm in was only 1 of 5 777-200(non ER).

The seats were OK for a medium-haul flight like this, but i noticed there were no legrest. We cruised at 39000ft at about 0.84 mach(84% the speed of sound). As we the Island republic closed in, we started decent over the south china sea in between the two parts of Malaysia. Already the clouds were black and I could not see a thing but clouds.

We flew passed changi(from the north) and made a 200 degree turn to line up with 02C. Then:"cabin crew please be seated for landing"
Gear down flaps 15. I could start to see the ships below us

    Arrival
We came in high and touched down with a BANG as the pilots slammed the brakes(seriously I was expecting a go-around).

A brief taxi took us to Terminal 1 of Changi airport Thus my holiday in Singapore begins. Immigration was swift and we were greeted with candy on the immigration desks. By the time i got to the baggage claim, all my bags were already on the belt!

        SG-HK

        At the airport
As always I checked-in online and went to the Internet service counter at Changi T1. With lots of time to spare, i went to discover T3. The first thing I realized it that T3 is huge! Back to T1 and went to my boarding gate at gate D44 at the end of the terminal.

I realized a CX 773 a few gates away, I thought that it maybe for a later flight to HK. Next to my A330 was a Garuda 737, further back were Jetstar aircrafts.

        What's on board
Once onboard, I sat next to the wing again But very soon I realised that this aircraft is at least 7,8 years old. The seats were not the same as the 772's that I took. Again no legrest, the head rest was not adjustable to make things worse. Doors closed and also no hot/towels given. Something was wrong with the safety video and the FA's had to do it the old way. Our taxi took us past many SIA cargo jets, as well as the Budget terminal to 02C. We lifted off on time, and we turned west towards Peninsular Malaysia. Good bye Singapore

Over Malacca we turned towards the South China Sea. Drinks were served, followed by peanuts. Again we cruised at 39000ft, but it was so cloudy outside i saw nothing but clouds. Over Kota Kinabalu food was served. Same choice of food as my outbound sector(Fish and potatoes or chicken with rice). I took the chicken which tasted horrible. The rice was hard and the gravy was so salty. The chicken didn't taste like chicken at all. Fruits and Ice-cream as well as fruits were included. Surprisingly Ice-cream was Haagen Dazs. After that I meant to take some pics of the cabin, but I accidentally fell asleep. After a 25 minute nap I woke up, in no mood to watch movies, so I switched to the flight display channel where it will tell you the Local time at XXX, time to destination..... I went to the lavatory but there was a short queue. Then a lady that came out of the lavatory told an FA that was it had problems, so she went in to take a look, making me wait longer. After that I read the in-flight magazine.

Before I knew it we started to decend. We flew east of HK, and made a sharp turn to line up with the runway. We made smooth landing at Chep Lak Kok. And made long taxi to the terminal. As we taxied, I saw many airlines and aircraft, including a 742 that was abandoned on the grass

At the airport, the worst came true. My bags never arrived Angry, I went to the lost and found to file a report. Later they told me my bags got left behind at SIN!!! They were loaded on a later flight.... Hours later I got my bag-at home as they delivered it.

What a way to end a holiday
