  • T3 one year on. Thoughts ?

Aside from the chaotic mulitple gate areas and the occasional farce over 'Priority' Lanes I am now well used to it and really like the place. I even think the Crowne Plaza is begining to grow on me..

The SKL F side remains an immense disappointment and the TPR access rules are just a joke and beyond belief. However, that is down to SQ and not Changi itself.

All in all, thumbs up to T3 from me.

Completely agree - by 'Priority' do you mean lack of priority boarding becoming more and more common, or do you mean the 'F' priority immigration area (if so, am unsure what the farce is you are referring to)?

I think T3 is definitely still my favourite terminal and I always feel more 'relieved/happy' at landing back there than T1 or T2. When taking off on LX (which uses T1), I always make sure to leave a bit of spare time to go to T3 instead and have a wander around.

The SKL F side, after checking out just how great lounges like Virgin's can be elsewhere, pales just so much when compared.

And TPR... to get food in a restaurant setting, VS CH still was far better... great bar too. Well, I'll leave the rest of TPR comments as a ...

T3 itself still deserves high praise as one of the best (at least, my favourite) airport(s) terminal in the world. They did a good job planning it out and can't wait to see what else Changi comes up with in the future.

Those with the luxury of choice!

I just feel very "relieved/happy" when landing at Changi - any terminal!

Incidentally, never experienced it as a "departure/check-in station", only in transit - and I just love it.

SKL C is fine, SKL F/R and TPR never tried them, and the TPR entry rule is indeed a joke, as many have discussed previously here in SQTalk.

The shops are great, more electronics choice wouldn't hurt, the Cartier boutique could be a little tad bigger and with greater selection (their HKG airport store is much better, btw), but overall they're doing ok (shopwise speaking).

        My favorite airport, by far.

Another 2 thumbs up from me.

Lounges aside, as jhm said, you couldn't do a whole lot better than Changi Airport.

Like JHM - i'm just happy to be landing or taking off from Changi - If i had to be stuck in an airport for an extended period of time, It'd be Changi. I might even claim to be from Krakhozia!

Thumbs up for me as well.
The only thing they could do better is the consistency of priority security lanes for J/F pax.

Although not a regular traveller through T3 I think it is nice. My only black marks against it are the lack of priority lanes for security screening and the design of the carpet (sorry JJPB3 we are just going to have agree to disagree on this one).

I have to say I still think T2 is one of the nicest terminals around.

I had the pleasure of trying T3 incl SKL C for the first time earlier in the week. It's a lil nicer than T2. Compared with most airports in Europe, both are miles ahead. But why put carpet into a new terminal? Maybe it's just me, but I find carpet in public places pretty disgusting.

And lounge wise, well, the SKL Cs in T2 and T3 might not have great views, but compared with the LH/LX C or even the SEN lounges in FRA, MUC, or ZRH they're a lot nicer.

Most Asian countries have pretty impressive airport gateways now.

                    Changi T3 keeps us competitive.

Don't like the carpet and lack of priority security lanes though.

                    I like the men's loo.

Aiming points in urinals and a view of the airplane at the gate/cockpit as you answer the call of nature.

                    Hope it's one way glass!

I love the T3 loo that overlooks the check in areas and baggage claim

I would agree, but Changi is competing against other hubs in it's region rather than those like KUL, BKK and HKG, and their best lounges are all better than the SKL F side.

I don't mind the carpet, except it's a bit thicker so heavier to drag my hand luggage around.

After a year of frequent travel through T3 I can safely say it's my favourite terminal together with HKG and ICN's new concourse A. Except for the tiny shops (5 customers barely fit in most of them) and the average F class lounge pretty much everything is World Class.

However, I always feel a bit uncomfortable about the fact that the actual screening of passengers and hand luggage takes place only at the gate... The random search just before passport control doesn't seem to be very reliable (I guess my hand luggage gets screened only 5 out of 10 times) and F Class passengers are not searched at all... I'm aware that there's probably a lot of passenger screening going on behind the scenes, however I feel more relaxed to walk around terminals where I can safely assume that they are free of firearms and bombs...

I do not want to sound paranoid but things can go wrong anywhere and I remember other people raising similar concerns...

Wow! If that's the case, I can't imagine how you feel when you are at other public areas such as MRT stations and shopping malls?

And somehow, I have never had my hand luggage checked b4 passport control. Perhaps I never travel much...
