  • KF miles can't be extended

    Hi all,

I have a friend whose has 7k KF miles expired by the end of Dec 2006 (i.e. 1 Jan 2007 midnight, Singapore time). She tried to extend her miles yesterday (i.e. 31st Dec) but the system did not allow her to extend the miles. There was also notice mentioning about insufficient amount of transaction. We were not sure about this message as she has over 20k miles at that time. She failed to contact SQ office. This morning, while trying to do so, the miles were expired (obviously). But when she tried to extend the 3k miles which are expiring end of this month, the transaction was going on properly.

She is quite upset with the situation now. All 7k was wasted. Does anybody know if there is anything she could do? She still couldn't manage to get through SQ office as the office is closed.

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the miles cannot be extended retroactively.

    From KF's website:

    Expiry of miles
Your KrisFlyer miles are valid for three years, and you will be notified in your account statement before they are due to expire. As a KrisFlyer member, you may extend your miles once for six months at a nominal fee. If you are a KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold or PPS Club member, you may extend your miles for one year. Simply login to extend your KrisFlyer miles online, or download and complete a Mileage Extension Request form.

Please note: KrisFlyer miles that have already expired cannot be extended.
Your friend could try to explain the situation to the KF office (ie she attempted to extend the validity of her mileage before they expired) during business hours and get them to grant her an exemption.

Or wait for better advice from the KF experts.

      Hi KeithMEL,

      Thanks for your reply.

She received reply from SQ this morning. They posted her a paper extension form asking her to do paper extension.

      Problem:
If doing paper extension, isn't it going to cost her a lot more miles for the extension? Some more she didn't able to extend it online cox of technical problem..

      Thanks for any advice.

        Case closed.

In conclusion of the case, SQ has granted extension to her miles, however, she was charged 2,000 miles per 10,000 miles extended instead of the 1,200 (online). But it was really great that SQ did grant exemption for this case. Nevertheless, it was bad that SQ did not keep her update when the extension was granted.
