  • How to get an upg with QF?

    Hello,
I would like to know if there are methods or ways to get an upgrade from Y flying QF.

Booking class is O. Flight is operated and marketed by QF.
I'm BA gold with a considerable amount of miles. BTW, I have QF membership but no miles and no status.

I fear there are no ways to secure an upgrade but nonetheless i'm here to ask your opinion/suggestion.

Is my only chance to hope BA gold could allow me an op-up?
    Thank you
    Luke

If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

BA Gold would put you in a good position for an op up on the JSA routes where BA elites are treated as equals to QF elites on QF flights and vice versa, in preference to other OW elites. It is generally easier getting W to J op ups than any other form of op ups though, and IME it's far easier securing an op up on BA metal.

QF is one of the stingiest airlines with op ups and will only do so during an oversell, so whilst not impossible it is rare.

I'm afraid the only way to secure a points upgrade on QF metal is by using QFF points. But having said that i don't think O class is eligible for a points upgrade.

Walk up to the check-in counter.

"I'd like to upgrade. I'm happy to pay anything."

Or perhaps try Italian charm ?

O on QF is totally un-upgradeable. N, O, Q (Not On Qantas) are non-upgradeable by any means (other than paying the $$$$$$ fare difference).

          Y will be my way
anyway I will try with the italian charme with the QF first host in LHR... she could remember me (not in that sense!!) because of my last troubled misconnecting experience with QF-BA

the italian charme? it works it works....

            Greetings from London.

finally at the end smtgh happened on my trip to NZ.

Even though during the outbound flights I was "only" granted an emergency row seat, the situation changed on the return flights.

In Sydney I politely asked if there were chances to be upgraded to WT+ (I was travelling in the most discounted eco class fare), but because it was a very full flight in every class, the host in the lounge told me was pretty impossible. Nonetheless I nicely smiled her and asked if perhaps she could put a remark for the SIN-LHR leg. She nodded and I went into the lounge.
The SYD-SIN flight was actually a very packed flight and I was happy to be able to seat once again in an emergency row seat.

Upon arrival in Singapore I went straight to the lounge for a mailbox's check and enquired with the dragon at the door if there were chance, but she said the flight was really full.
I definitely left any hope and went to the gate.
Unecpectedly when I gave my BP to the agent, he put it into the machine and the latter started beeping. guess guess...
"We had to change your seat"... et voila', upgraded to WT+!

thank you Ba, and thanks to the QF first host agent, whose role has been probably critic.

            Luke

              Congrats on the op-up LukeGT

Your BA gold (OW emerald) status would have had a lot to do with the op-up.
