  • Jetquay Terminal or SQ First class facilities

Hi, I just wanted to ask what you guys would prefer. There are two options. Either I use the normal F facilities of SQ with F check in, TPR and so on, or I could book the Jetquay service. What do you think is more hassle-free, or relaxing.

    regards

You are not, who you are, you are who you want to be.

I don't know whether you post the question for yourself or for someone else. Why would you spend additional expenses when you are flying on SQ F? The SQ First Class Check-In Lounge at Changi is excellent. Quick process. And then you go through the fast track immigration and there you go, you have the escalator up to the infamous SKL with its TPR now. It is hassle-free in my opinion.
But again, perhaps what you are looking for is a ride to the gate? I know SQ will not give you a ride to the gate. Well, I have a shy and innocent personality. So a buggy ride from SKL to the gate would make me a bit embarrassed.
But again, I know there are travellers who will pay extra for different reasons. And I am just a commoner.

Whilst both are extremely good, I would do the Jetquay only if I wanted to relax in a private room, sleep a little etc.

If I was in a class other than F, I'd also do the Jetquay.

If I was in SQ F, and did not intend to sleep half the day away, I'd use the SQ facilities. And save money not booking Jetquay.

Why would you want to sleep half the day? A private room? Not my thing. So, I guess that's why we have different say here.

If I wanted to spend half a day sleeping or ... , I'd book the Crowne Plaza or another hotel rather than Jetquay.

But Jetquay is as cheap as SGD100 ($33.33 if you split it 3 ways) due to a DBS promotion at the moment:

Exclusively for DBS Treasures Black Elite American Express® and
            DBS Altitude American Express® Cardmembers

            Special Promotional Rates

            1. From now till 30 June 2008:
            - Arrival: S$80 for up to 3 persons (U.P. S$300 for up to 3 persons)
            - Departure: S$80 for up to 3 persons (U.P. S$375 for up to 3 persons)

            2. From 1 July 2008 till 29 February 2009:
            - Arrival: S$80 for up to 3 persons (U.P. S$300 for up to 3 persons)
            - Departure: S$100 for up to 3 persons (U.P. S$375 for up to 3 persons)

Please note that any reservation has to be made 24 hours in advance. For more details on JetQuay services, click here.

Although I do realise not everyone may have this promotion available to them, the thread starter did mention "more hassle-free, or relaxing." No mention about money being an object anywhere.

We really should organise a Jetquay DO!

Which prices are these for? IIRC, there were 3 levels of service available.

                Normal:

Arrivals aka Gateway service = U.P. S$100 per pax (for members), otherwise $125 for non-members
Departure aka Quayside service = U.P $125 per pax (for members), otherwise $150 for non-members

                Premium:

Jetside service aka Quayside + private limousine / electric buggy transfer directly to the airbridge / your departing flight from the Jetquay terminal (so would only be valid for either a transit or departure) = U.P $850 per pax (for members), otherwise $1000 for non-members

It's worth noting also that Citibank's PremierMiles card grants membership into Jetquay. However the price is nowhere near as cheap as it now is on the DBS promotions. I'm under DBS's Altitude as well, and intend to give this a try on the transit to Bangkok back from Vienna/Istanbul as I think I'm gonna really need to crash for a bit!

Perhaps the OP is flying on a redemption F ticket and won't get access to The Private Room in T3?

... but you live in Singapore! I'd compare the time and cost required for the Jetquay terminal against simply going landside and jumping in a taxi to go home.

The OP mentions in the first post that he has access to TPR.

jhm: I would land at 3:30PM, probably get all my luggage etc at 4:00PM.

The LX flight will be at 9PM, and I normally leave the lounge around 8:00 - 8:15PM latest.

So, 4 and maybe a 1/4 hours... possibly with the gf in tow (just made the below update in the Vienna thread)

It's so good (referring to the TK flight), I just told my gf and she wants to come as well now. Except she is trying to figure out how to do the same from Bangkok... (either that or she has to fly an additional flight down to SIN and join me to Istanbul).

This means I also have to pay a substantial amount to bring her along, so it's very unconfirmed thus far for her... *ouch - looks at wallet*
I'm quite happy to pay the $100 (since I'm arriving from Istanbul, I'll go out on a limb and say this may even be charged as a 'Gateway' service which would only cost $80 SGD) for a good quick snooze / booze / express boarding, and it's even better for 2 people. Taking a taxi from the airport to my place (quite close to Changi - will cost $9-11 with the airport surcharge). To go during peak hour on taxis (5-8pm), get hit with the peak hour surcharge, will cost me another $10. And I'd have to lug all the luggage + chocolate cake everywhere.

My backup, if I don't do Jetquay (supposing I / gf don't feel tired) will be to do Sats Premier (which is for Swiss Business pax).

The only reason I'd be tempted to exit customs and go home would be to take the taxi right into Jetquay past the security etc... fun in theory, but since I can imagine I'll feel like crap after the Economy flight, I may do this on a later flight.

(I still have to fly again to BKK on the 28th Oct for my own birthday...)
