  • Minor adventures...

So, going through for SQ281 last weekend. Boarding Pass is put through the machine and it beeps. I look at screen and it says 11A (which was my seat) and 1A. He looked at it and then just gave it me back.

Now, as this is a 2 class 772ER service I thought nothing of it until I boarded and saw regional F seats !!. I was guided to my 11A seat, which of course only has one window seat a long forward on these things.

I collared a Steward and asked can I move to 1A. He said 'sorry that's First Class'. Not on this flight I replied, to which he mumbled some bullsh*t about status. 'No worries, I'm PPS' I said with a smile and also told him how my BP had spat out saying 1A. He tried to say they were first pax and I told him not one of those people in the F cabin were F pax today. He said he'd have to ask the IFS.

I watched him walk off (stalk off would probably be more apt..) and he went nowhere near the IFS, who was my second female IFS by the way. I asked her myself and she said giver her a minute. A couple later she came down and said grab your stuff.

Someone had moved over to 1C so I got 3A instead. The IFS came back past and I requested a glass of Krug. I was told not to push my luck.

We then actually stayed on the ground for another 90 minutes as were 5000 kilos too heavy and had to sort that out. It's a new one for me on SQ but there you go. I wonder whether this had anything to do with the equipment swap, explained to me as being due to being short of aircraft.

I also had a phantom BTC of Chicken Biryani loaded. I've no idea how as I didn't order it (having forgotten AGAIN to BTC!) but as it's one of my favourites I gladly accepted it, after coming cleasn and ensuring it wasn't for someone else.

So, does this qualify as an elusive op-up, or just half of one ?.

Hmmm... 3A instead of 11A, favored BTC option, super-nice IFS ...

But: play-by-rules (to the point of lying about First) steward, and more importantly, denied Krug.

    Half an op-up, I say.

Had an overfueled situation on CX ex-SFO once.
The aircraft was over the MTOW so the flight had to offload precious cargoes and then push back & burn some fuel on the ground (can't offload fuel as it is considered contaminated once filled into the aircraft) -- this was at the time of sky high fuel prices!
