    Westin Chosun and Paradise

SQFAN, have you stayed at the Paradise? Personally I prefer it compared to the Westin Chosun. The good thing with the Chosun is that no matter what room you get, i.e. looking towards the beach or overlooking the small bay on the west side, it's really nice.

The bay on the west side of the Westin Chosun:

And of course one should never omit mentioning the fantastic cuisine of the Japanese restaurant in the Chosun (the chef there worked previously for two years in a Japanese restaurant in Chicago).

With the Paradise, however, you get a very nice balcony and it's very relaxing having your balcony windows open and listening to the sea directly below you during early morning or late evening... The hotel has a very nice executive floor as well (newly renovated) on the 18/fl. The executive rooms also have a much larger bathroom compared to those of the Chosun.

View of Haeundae beach west from the balcony of an executive room at the Paradise: (the Westin Chosun is far at the end, next to Dongbaek Park)

    View of the beach east:

I'll take better pics of the executive room next time.

It is also directly connected to the 4-floor duty free shops (Paradise Duty Free) and you (or your spouse) can do some really good shopping very conveniently.

Finally, one more shot of the Westin Chosun:

The one in the City (Seoul) is also called Westin Chosun.

Drats, I now have to start another new thread and post my pics.

The beach has definitely nothing to do with Hyundai chaebol (conglomerate)... I wrote Hyundai beach as well, when I first came to Korea but my work colleagues told me, it's actually spelled Haeundae beach in the romanized form...

                Just for the record...

By the way the lighthouse in my avatar pic is just around the corner from Westin Chosun Beach... very nice to walk there in the evening

I stayed at the Westin Chosun in Busan a few months ago. It was quite nice and I did get a nice corner suite as a Plat. The rate was a bit high but it was sold out when I wanted to go (large exhibition at Bexco) so I had to use Platinum Concierge to get me a room at quite short notice.

I have previously stayed at the Marriott in Busan which is further round the bay but think it's been renamed now.

As of 4th quarter of 2006, Marriott Busan has been renamed Novotel Ambassador Busan. Rooms (I've only tried executive type room, so no opinion on others) are slightly larger compared to those at the Westin or Paradise. The basement bar/disco was also renovated 3rd quarter 2007 and it's worth paying a visit, especially on Friday or Saturday nights, even if you are not staying in the hotel.

However, the Westin Chosun Busan and the Paradise are much better in the quality of the facilities and services offered and also better value, imho.
