  • Gone ... but not forgotten 9/11

Lets all takes a moment of silence.
Remember the day that changed the way of travel.
(Lets not argue about politics, religion, or other reasons behinds 9/11; just concentrate on travel and SQ especially)
Remember SARS that follows, which in turn changed the PPS culture.
    Lets not complaining so much.
Lets treat every human being nicer.
Lets be nice to each other.
Lets embrace the new world of travel.
    Another moment of silence.
    Safe and happy travel everyone

      Indeed.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was in Kota Kinabalu that day and was enjoyed a drink outside at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru when a mate called and said 'go and put CNN on, two planes have hit the WTC'. I told him to bugger off at first, presuming they were Cessna's or something similar and I'd see it later.

We watched both towers collapse live....

          Seconded.

I woke up to it, heard about buildings collapsing, but didn't realise how big it was until I got to school, shocking

I remembered that particular day, it was not long ago. I thought it was something small, but it proved me wrong.

I happened to up watching CNN that night when the planes hit the World Trade Centre in New York. I actually watched the 2nd plane hit the tower. I didn't sleep that night watched the whole thing unfold on CNN. I was numb the whole work day and most people in office as well as news started to hit. I was quite horrified at the scenes.

I was in second grade when it happened. I think we were learning math when all of a sudden the principal told all teachers to turn their televisions on. Everyone stopped everything they were doing, an eerie silence came across the room of usually blitheful children. The first tower had already been hit. I sat their just watching, a pencil still in my hand the whole time. Every second was so terrifying, and everyone become struck with awe as the first tower and later second came down. RIP, may terrorism be resolved in a new era where people the globe over may unify and speak in a voice of composure and determination, hailing peace to all.

I can't believe it has been 7 years since the tragic event. 7 long, painful years for the families of the victims. May the deceased rest in peace and the bereaved be strong. Wishing for a more peaceful world ahead.

I remember coming home, seeing my roommate silently watching tv, and asking him what movie was on. Took some time to realize he was watching CNN.

I was doing a project at SQ during that time...was there on and off until about May 2002 and I saw the way things were changing inside the organization. Some of the crew at STC at that time were among the last batches to be hired for a while.

I think it's 6 years to be exact, it's 2007 now and this happened in 2001. Time flies so fast, without us realising it.

I still remember clearly those times. I turned off the TV just moments before the plane hits and went to bed, as we are 14 hours faster than NYC. Next day, in the school bus, my friends were talking about planes hitting buildings. I was ignoring it, I thought it was just a simple plane crash. When my first class starts, my ESL teacher started it with a prayer and I was like . Only during maths class that day, my teacher turned on the TV and so, I was glued to the TV for the next 48 hours or so.
