  • SQ Promotion Period

    Hi fellows

Based on the past years / your past experience, when is the usual promotional period for SQ flight ticket throughout the year?

  • #2
I booked a ticket last year in May when there was a promo. Actually there's a promo right now. Tickets are ex-USA though, not sure if it applies ex-Singapore.

I think SQ is trying to have a promotion now across the network ahead of the new fare structure on 20 January

There's a promo for ex-SIN now too. It ends in March I believe. But if you want rock bottom fares and are flexible, wait for the NATAS fair period, when SQ usually tries to promote new services, or monetize routes that are doing less well (so LHR, SYD, JFK etc are out).

Wasn't there a 2 to go promotion for J class which was ended at the end of last year? Do not think there will be any similar promotions for the time being.

Why though, before the new fare structure. Thought it would make more sense for SQ to have a promo with the new fare structure to encourage people to book tickets with the new fare structure.

Because after 20/1, any cheap booking classes such as K, V classes will attract 50% KF Miles which will cost SQ more.

So it's better to sell 10% tickets so to maximise revenue.

But for most of us travelling on Flexi-Saver, we will lose 25% of miles and we are far more likely to use them. Raising the bargain fares' miles 5-fold is something I hope costs SQ money because they deserve their stupid decision to bite them. They should remember that loyalty is a 2-way street.

I booked my ticket just a few hours ago on what will in the future be economy lite fares (NQ). I hope they don't drop fares tonight

Totally forgot about the change in fare structure and wanted to check some ticket prices. Clicked on the SQ website and saw this:

Sure is. Glad I got on earlier today with a dodgy mobile reception and checked in for my flight because I sure can't access my check-in any more.

Looks like their website upgrade is taking slightly longer than originally planned - just checked 2 minutes ago and it is still showing the same message, albeit the maintenance window listed on the page is now extended to 0600hrs Singapore Time now...
