  • Singapore Airlines boosts Paris-CDG to 10x weekly

The three additional flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport as SQ334 (Singapore-Paris) and SQ333 (Paris-Singapore), starting Oct 30. The flights will complement SIA’s current daily SQ336 (Singapore-Paris) and SQ335 (Paris-Singapore) services.

The 777-300ERs are fitted with 264 seats, of which four are in First Class, 48 in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy Class and 184 in Economy Class.

Singapore Airlines - A great way to fly...

    Dummy booking says the following:

SQ334 departs SIN at 2:30AM, arriving CDG at 9:30AM
SQ333 departs CDG at 11AM arrives at SIN at 1:40PM

It's almost like the way SQ227 and SQ237 behave, of course, if the first flight gets significantly, it can return as the evening flight. Not the way the LHR flights behave as I assumed, though I was correct on the going back portion.

That can't be. The return SQ333 should arrive in SIN at 06:40AM.

The two flights are returning from CDG at different times:

          SQ335: CDG 1100 - SIN 0640+1 D (existing flight)
          SQ333: CDG 1800 - SIN 1340+1 146 (new flight)

New flights are using the old CDG flight numbers. This certainly explains what some of the 77Ws are going to do now that A350s have taken over so many of their routes, but then also poses a new question of where the A380s are destined to go instead.

This is the way CDG and ZRH were served before the arrival of the A380 and at the time CDG went daily A380, SQ explained that this was the beauty of the A380, that such uneven capacity could be bundled together into one daily flight. Even SYD is seeing SQ 777s flying within an hour of each other, when this was the entire point of an A380- reducing take offs and landings at crowded airports. So what's the future of the SQ flagship now?

The A380 will be retired from the route when SQ returns its first A380 to lessor. And SQ will only be served with the B777-300ER.

The extent of capacity cut seems quite significant. Wonder if SQ is still expected to receive the new A380 in Oct which could have allowed CDG to continue to be served with the A380.

I think its been discussed on another thread that European route loads have generally been dropping & Australian demand (and to a lesser extent, US demand) have been increasing. Could the spare A380 finally be heading to your beloved MEL??? Or perhaps to SFO, upgauging one of the 77W flights. The other possibility is that SQ is looking to trim A380 deployments ahead of a massive spate of refits.

Of the 3 options, i would narrowly go with refits ahead of Australian deployments. I personally think that US demand can still be met by the existing planes and anyway they probably need the 2013 product to distinguish themselves in that market for now, given price differences and competition from CX and perhaps ME3. Will be exciting to see what happens once the 2017 products are installed on the A380s!

Very true. CDG losing an A380 would realistically free up two of them and it's going to take quite a while to do a full refit of the A380s. I also wonder if there may be lag times in between new A380s arriving and the old leased ones departing.

I wonder why they opted to deviate from their existing secondary 'wave' of European departures to LHR and FRA in the afternoon. IIRC, the 3x weekly flights prior to the introduction of the A380 to CDG departed SIN mid afternoon.

I prefer the afternoon flight. After landing, it is about time to sleep and can adjust the jet lag quickly.

Does this indicate SQ is cosying up to AF especially with their code-shares and all? Will this lead to a AF-SQ JV with SQ ditching Star for Skyteam?

I'm not sure I'd read that much into it. They already have a JV with LH who are *A. I see the AF deal simply as two competitors setting aside their differences in the face of the threat of the ME3 to each other's existence. United against a common enemy.

AF is just one non-Star airline. SQ has codeshares with many Star airlines - SAS, ANA, ANZ, EVA, Ethiopian, Turkish, United etc. Don't see SQ leaving Star unless SQ starts dropping those and starts aligning with more airlines in Skyteam (or as some say, Scaryteam).

From 25/Mar 2018, CDG SQ336/5 reverts to daily A380 and no more SQ334/333...

So the 10x 77WR is interim
