  • Lufthansa to drop KUL from March 2016

    Surprised to read about this.

I would have thought loads from KUL to Europe would be very healthy. Didn't BA restart KUL-LHR recently as well?

(Whoops...realize this should have gone in the Star Alliance Partners folder...mods: please feel free to move it there.)

It's operated by an A340-300... even with low fuel prices, the economics on that bird may not be turning out well. Perhaps they think they can cover it with the SQ joint venture.

Could well be to do with the recent MH/EK alliance, if the flight was not doing great now it could be into the red once that gets going.

+1. Wasn't it operated as BKK tag on flight anyways? Usually those add on flights haven't been doing well and the a/c operating the route doesn't help. Not too much premium traffic either, more of a leisure route. So a stop in SIN vs. BKK shouldn't make much difference to pax going Germany - Malaysia.

This would be the 2nd time LH is dropping KUL. AF also pulled out/is pulling out. Let's see if BA manages to stay, and if it helps that MH is in OW.

Well that whole MH and OW thingy is going to be interesting. Sure QF cooperates heavily with EK and still maintains OW membership, so it could be similar for MH. To be seen.

It was via BKK in the not-too-distant past, before it became FRA-KUL-CGK. They pulled out of Indonesia a few months ago, and now KUL
