    Flight details

    Flight number(s): VA 1187/1192
Origin: SYD - Sydney - Kingsford Smith
    Destination: PQQ - Port Macquarie
    Operator: Virgin Australia Regional Airlines
    Type: ATR72-600
    Registration: 9V-FVQ
    Sector Miles: 199 + 199 = 398 miles return
    Booking Class: T
    Cabin Class: Economy
Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer Points earned: 1200 * 150% (Status Bonus) = 1800 return
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles earned: 1800/1.35 = 1333 miles return

It is a business trip since I am required to go to Port Macquarie to attend a team meeting for one of our departments there.

The flight was taken just 2 weeks after GE235 crash, and initially I assign myself to seat 2A. However, for my own safety and in case of emergency, I changed my seat to 16F instead, so even if anything happens, it is close to the emergency exit so it is easier to evacuate.

Virgin domestic terminal at SYD - I really dislike this kind of flight display where arrival flights and departure flights are on the same screen amongst codeshares. It is really confusing and I hope they can upgrade this next time I catch them.

    The plane for today

Meals are free on all regional flights operated by VARA.

    Pacific Ocean

    Mid-North Coast

Soon after that the plane landed and as soon as it left the runway it stopped and shut the engine, never been in such a short taxi to the 'terminal' before - here it is!

    Close up to the plane

Passenger terminal. It is possibly the smallest airport I have ever been to. As you can see, on the right hand side this is the gate lounge, with the luggage processing centre in the middle and passengers exit through the fence next to the black sign on LHS of the photo - no entry to the terminal required. Imagine that day is a rainy day...

After a days of hard work, we are now back to the terminal bound for the flight home.

    Gate Lounge.

    Inside ATR72-600

Nuts and Cider on the way back - once again they are included in the ticket.

Mountain scenery on the way back.

    Back home safety. (Relieved)

    Comment:

    Ground Crew: N/A
Plane:9/10 (ATR is quieter than Dash 8, however, the first officer went to the toilet airbourne. *shocked*)
Meal:7/10 (I prefer a cake rather than a snack bar for breakfast)
    Entertainment:6/10 (Magazine only)

    Comments welcome.

      Thanks for the TR, MetropolitanAirlines!

I find flying in an ATR, or any other turboprop, much more interesting than flying in a 737 or A320.

The airport at PQQ sure is tiny!

        Hi Metropolitan Airlines,

The flight registration should be VH-FVQ instead of 9V-FVQ.

        Thanks.
