  • A330 IFE Question

I'm due to fly on an A330 in three weeks. I was wondering what special cables we will need if we wish to listen to/watch our devices on the A330's IFE system. If so, can we request it from the crew?

    Hello hybridace101!

For iPod / iPad, this link says that SQ will provide the cable onboard, as it is a proprietary cable:

    http://apcmag.com/singapore_airlines...ne_support.htm

It doesn't say whether this is the old iPod connector or the new lightning connector, though.

There is a USB port which can be used for charging as well as for viewing photos and music (Not sure about videos.)

There are also regular composite video and audio cable connectors (yellow, red, white plugs) which can be used.

Some additional info here, although the SIA website doesn't go into specifics (like the cable, or device support.):

The proprietary cable is terminated with the old 30 pin connector and not with the new Lightning plug.

        ^^
So we will be able to use our iPhone 4S onboard the new system and not have to buy the cable ourselves?

As far as I understand it, yes, it is 30-pin compatible and SIA certainly cannot expect the passenger to buy the cable just to to use it once on the plane.
