  • AA auditing accounts for trading eVIPs/miles and other abuses

I doubt that this will affect anyone on SQTalk, but the news on FT is that AA has been aggressively auditing and closing accounts recently. Four participants on FT lost their accounts around today over trades offered in Coupon Connection, including one person who admitted to posting an offer to trade but claimed that he had never consummated any actual trades.

It's claimed that some of the infractions involved trading or selling eVIPs that were obtained when AA offered UA 1Ks status matches to EXP with eight eVIPs.

Others apparently opened an AA credit card, bought long haul IFC tickets to meet the spend requirement for 100,000 bonus redeemable miles (plus 200% of the fare), then cancelled both the ticket and the credit card as soon as the miles were posted to the account. Next step was to trade (or sell, including to brokers) the fraudulent miles.

FT responded first by stopping all trades involving AA stuff in Coupon Connection about eight hours ago, then announcing that Coupon Connection would go offline. It did about an hour ago, although the plan seems to be for the mods to clean it up and revise the rules for using Coupon Connection.
