  • Too little time for transit

Got an SMS telling me my MH flight to SIN is retimed an by hour, which leaves me only 20 mins to dash to the boarding gate of my onward SQ flight in T3.

I have no checked bags so I'm not worried about that. I'm not expecting MH to be responsible for my connecting flight as it's on a seperate ticket. I've printed out my BP for the onward flight, just that now I need a way to dash to T3 in 20 mins. Will the ground staff provide assitance? Eg a ride on the caddy.

To be safe, how about calling SQ for help?

That's really really too tight for a T2-T3 connection. A caddy probably wouldn't help much as it has to run the full-U of the airport, via T1.

I don't like your chances but JetQuay can do the round by buggy in about 7-8 mins, but it comes down to pax traffic on the day, and again, I don't like your chances. You'd have to ask them for assistance and book a transit buggy. Frankly, if your flight comes in even the tiniest bit late, you're SOL.

Depending on luck with gates, a best-case scenario could get you on a Skytrain in 5-6 minutes if both gates are right in front of Skytrain and the heavens align. Maybe get a backup booking done for a later flight or switch MH to something earlier... MH's fault, they might be able to help...

Kyo is right as the situation he mentioned almost never happens, with MH flights arriving mostly F-late 30ish to early 40ish.

Called both SQ and MH. Their replies.

MH: Sorry, there aren't any available seats on earlier flights.

SQ: Sorry, it's not our problem since you're on separate tickets. We can PERHAPS send a buggy for you since you're an EG member (), but we won't hold the flight for you.

I'm wondering, if they do send a buggy for me, will they go via T1 or will I have to take the skytrain?

i remembered it is possible to go T2>>>T1 but have not been at B10 to check out the T1>>>T3 connection though.

Saying which, how possible is it for you to make a scene with MH for them to do something, after all it's their fault in the first place. More of like a hit and miss but personally (not to be quoted for reference), I could share and experience where impossible became possible. PM me if you want to know.

I'm trying to get MH to get me on the earlier flight. SQ870 departs at 1900 but I only arrive at 1825. Gate closes at 1850 so I have barely 25 mins.

So far, MH doesn't seem to be giving in to my demand, but I am escalating this. But frankly, I don't know how they're going to give me a seat on a full flight.

Should I just cancel this sector? (And go through the painful process)

It is possible to walk (or buggy) all the way through airside from T1 to T3. It's just a very long walk.

                    Cancel MH and fly FY

MH is the one you have to stand firm on/keep escalating/keep the booking but get on the waitlist somehow. Show them your subsequent SQ PNR and tell them your MCT is impossible on the re-timed flight. With enough time, they should be able to pull strings, although I'm no MH expert. I'm sure you have connections at MW to do that, though!

There is a Skytrain from T1 near the C-gates to T3, but you still need to factor in a 3-minute wait either way... plus you need to really push to get to your gate, assuming an on-time arrival on MH's part.

I've been arguing with 10 supervisors/managers through the phone now. They said they can waitlist me, but chances "are slim". I said yes anyway. When I told them I have an onward flight to catch the repeatedly denied responsibility, and one manager even "jokingly" said I should have booked MH. After he said that I totally lost my patience with him.

24 hours to go, I'm getting worried. Knowing MH, delays and retimes are part of their culture, so I won't trust them too much.

Should i play safe and fork out another 400MYR for an MI/SQ flight? Will SQ pay more attention to my problem I do?

actually the fastest way to get from T2 to T3 is via the Skytrain. Even the JetQuay staff confirmed it. She told me that it may be faster if she sends me via SkyTrain rather than driving along from T2-T1-and tghen T3

Actually they are right. It is your problem and not their problem as you are buying MH ticket only to Singapore. That's why I always tell people need to be careful if you buy 2 separate ticket which mean to be a "connection" flights.

If you hold some status in MH, you can bitch with them. I am pretty sure they have some "reserve" seat to be released on the earlier flight.

As for record that flight MH613 is only arriving Changi at 18:34 today. So if your HKG flight is so important you may want to buy another ticket.

Either forego your MH ticket and book with a carrier that suits your timing. Or if you can blow the time, go to the airport at east one flight early and hope for a last minute no show

Probably my only two options now
