  • EVA Air applies to Join *A

    A bit old but nonetheless...

EVA Airways Corp. has applied to join the Star Alliance to expand its network, the Taipei-based Central News Agency said, citing president Chang Kuo-wei.

I hope so too. BR has network wide Premium Y product, add to that *G benefits. Sounds like it could a winning combination.

That would be excellent news if that happens - will really help with both East-West and Transpacific connections, and premium class travel at reasonable prices

I'm not holding my breath, as I'm not so sure TG/SQ will be happy with this

Now all that Star needs is one of the 3 big Gulf carriers (EK, EY, QR). Again, I'm not holding my breath, but that would basically resolve all of my travel needs, and mean that we are not so dependent on (overpriced and/or unredeemable) SQ for SE Asia coverage

That's great news indeed! If they do enter *A, we look forward to flying with them again.

Have't flown BR since the mid 90s.

OT: I remember when BR used to denote British Caledonian up until the early 80s (they flew to HKG back then)

I have fond memories of flying BR in my early days when money was tight.

Their premium Y was cheaper than SQ Y ( not any more ) and TPAC was always on BR

                    Good if they join *Alliance

Will make my pilgrimage to Boeing Factory in Seattle when they do

Yeah I like having an alternative to TPE. Flew with BR when they were still using 767s.

Will be cool to be able to fly on their premium economy with *G.

Although now I'm still unable to book flights between singapore to europe (other than CDG).

Very nice! Thinking of flying to SEA on a personal trip on BR in August. Wonder if I can call KF up to book it now instead of waiting for June.

You cant and you shouldn't. KF miles on *A is poor value. Plus SEA doesn't get their new Royal Laurel product, nor SIN.
