Interesting story of this tram:
Like 4 others on the Melbourne network, it was built for and owned by Mulhouse, France but placed in storage for a future network extension. When Melbourne was desperate for tram capacity due to lack of forward planning by successive governments, Mulhouse shipped them over to use as “hire trams” effectively. After a couple of years they changed their mind about the network extension and this sold them to Melbourne. It was quite an odd situation, to take delivery of vehicles years ahead of when they intended to use them.Comment
