I just got off the line with KF redemptions. The agent claimed the system would not let her book a *A business saver SIN-TPE-IAH award on BR because the itinerary involving "backtracking". Wtf? 
It would only let her ticket the itinerary as two separate awards, which would then add up to some 120,000 miles versus a one-way Singapore to North America *A saver award which costs 97,500 miles.
She had no trouble with booking SIN-TPE-JFK.
On a related note, are redemptions involving (1) mixed class bookings, (2) airport changes, and/or (3) overnight layovers not possible? I ask because she was unable to include IAH-PIT or EWR-PIT segments on UA in the 97,500 miles. Both options would involve 10 hour overnight layovers due to the late arrival time of BR flights into IAH/JFK.
For some reason, UA MP shows these same options are easily available to book online, but SQ seems to struggle with the same requests.
