Was just experimenting with a possible PEK trip coming up in June tonight on singaporeair.com. Why do I see that PEK-SIN flights are available for redemption, while SIN-PEK are all on waitlist? It's not just one or two flights, but all flights on the same day. Too much of a coincidence, definitely.
Just to be sure, I was initially trying 29 June outbound and 2 July inbound. As I tried different date and route combinations, it turns out that only 29 June outbound has the waitlist problem.
