  • Double Dipping -- Is It Over?

SQ ticketing agent in SIN airport has confirmed that Amadeus will not accept 2 FFPs on system. The old FQTS and FQTV formats will not work anymore.

So you will definitely have to put your accrual FFP linked to your PPS if you want them to track your revenue and where the miles is supposed to go to. If you do a last minute change of FFP at the airport, that means taking the existing FFP (KF/PPS #) out and replacing it with the new FFP. Then the PPS value will not be able to be tracked.. and you'd probably have to send in your ticket info for manual recredit.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, this is going to make it much harder to top-up my United mileage. Not good.

Truth is, I haven't been able to input a non-KF FFP into my reservations since the website "redesign" last year. I have had to ask them to switch it at airport check-in literally each time. I accrue miles to UA and PPSV to KF, which is my preferred pattern for every flight. I have never had any success having that be my default, however, and I have no way of doing this in advance. Any suggestions?

So, not even possible if you link non-KF accounts to your KF account?

Double dipping still works and there is no change. The check-in staff still has both fields available. I never relied on my reservation anyway but made sure that the check-in staff checks on the correct frequent flyer numbers being used.

Don't know. Was only told, intention to do away with double-dipping

                  You draw your own conclusions.

whether it goes away immediately or in the future, allowing us to credit miles to another program (e.g. one that does not summarily expire my miles!) while also crediting me for money spent flying SQ in Business or First has been a major enticement for flying SQ vs other premium airlines.

If they change their stated policies such that you can *only* earn PPS Value if you also credit your miles to SQ, that would be a major factor for me to take my business elsewhere. I have no desire to bank miles in KrisFlyer only to have them evaporate.

If the original stated purpose of PPS Value vs. the old sector system was to fairly reward people for the actual money spent with SQ, then I have no idea why they would force customers to also bank miles with SQ (which are actually a liability on their balance sheet, not an asset).

Is this yet another "enhancement" to the PPS Club we are supposed to like?

If the intention is true, that's bad. I don't see the upside for SQ.

LH is using Amadeus and they have both FQTV and FQTS - they just don't use FQTS.

Double dipping stands. You just have to link your FFP where you want your miles to go with your PPS number (whether you qualify or not). So if your PPS number is on the booking, the miles will go to your preferred FFP and your value will go towards PPS.

You need to contact PPS/KF for that.

Another quality post by Guy Betsey. Isn't it amazing how he can go from 'the world is coming to an end' to 'nothing has changed at all' in just a couple of posts? Amazing!
