I got an "invite" for the Maybank World MasterCard the other day (http://info.maybank2u.com.sg/persona...astercard.aspx), but looking at the details I don't find anything that sets this apart from the regular Platinum Horizon Card I currently hold.
Okay different shops and restaurants I don't frequent (I go to Bistro Du Vin maybe twice a year
) as 10x Treats points partners. But no better earnings ratios for general overseas or local spend from what I can tell. I got a full travel insurance already and JetQuay is such a pain to use when you got an SQ C BP or *G lounge access.
Am I missing something? Was going to give it a pass. Thanks.

i think the jetquay is for all world master cards. i think its a waste of time too. doesn't look interesting at all.Originally posted by demue View PostI got an "invite" for the Maybank World MasterCard the other day (http://info.maybank2u.com.sg/persona...astercard.aspx), but looking at the details I don't find anything that sets this apart from the regular Platinum Horizon Card I currently hold.

For those who are still holding onto MayBank cards, complimentary Rewards Infinite (RI) membership will cease for most MayBank cards and a minimum annual spending of $24K is required.
With the cessation of RI membership, it also means your EZ Link cards that are tagged with EZ Reload will only earn a paltry 0.4 miles/ $ instead of 4miles/ $.
I will be cancelling my cards with them since they have removed the last remaining competitive feature.

I have had the Platinum Horizon for 2.5 years now and it still works for me as I do (sadly) manage to spend more than 24K a year on the card mostly overseas as the 2mls/$ is the same I would get with my PremierMiles Amex, but with lower transaction fees (Visa vs. Amex).Originally posted by sabian View PostFor those who are still holding onto MayBank cards, complimentary Rewards Infinite (RI) membership will cease for most MayBank cards and a minimum annual spending of $24K is required.

Heck my Ezlink topups every month are close to 1K just for Comfort cab so I'm quite interested to keep the card and RI going until the day they kill Ezlink 10x bonus. However, I understand if someone does not want to hold onto it.

I can see where you're coming from. I used to hit 24k too when they were leading the pack with 2miles for overseas spend/ DFS / air tickets.Originally posted by demue View PostI have had the Platinum Horizon for 2.5 years now and it still works for me as I do (sadly) manage to spend more than 24K a year on the card mostly overseas as the 2mls/$ is the same I would get with my PremierMiles Amex, but with lower transaction fees (Visa vs. Amex).

But while others have up the ante, they seem to be heading in the other direction.
First they tightened the lounge privilege, then they removed DFS and while others offered 4 miles for certain expenditure, they stagnated at 2.
I have
anz travel visa signature (free Lounge at T1 and T3)
UOB Visa Signature (4 miles/$ for overseas spend of between 1k to 2k)
Citi Rewards (4 miles/$ for overseas shopping on clothes /shoes/ bags and department stores up 48k if you use both citi Rewards visa and mastercard)
Citi Prestige (Unlimited Priority Pass)
UOB Preferred VISA Plat ( 4miles/ $ at Fairprice up to 12k per year)
UOB Preferred AMEX (4 miles/ $ for dining)
DBS Woman (4 miles/$ for online transactions up to 2k per mth)
UOB Prvi for DCC infested destinations (eg China)
If nothing above works to earn 4 miles, I fall back on either citi prestige or ANZ.
Ezlink for me only applies to erp, car park deductions, taxis, public transport and the rare foray into cold storage which don't exceed 1k per mth.
Same reasons why I ditched HSBC Visa Infinite.
The marketing managers for hsbc Vi and maybank horizon must have had the same lecturer for marketing 101.
And I can still link my Ezlink to other cards for 1.2 - 1. 6 miles/ $.
I'd be sad to sever the link as it was my first miles card about 8 or 9 years ago?Last edited by sabian; 11 October 2014, 02:31 AM.

I do have some of the cards you hold, but all together only half as many - haha. I don't think I'll manage to optimize it that far though I do admit there is potential.
For example:
- UOB Visa Signature is tempting, but I hate those monthly limits and having to reconcile how much I have spend a month and whether it is time to switch to another card
- Citi Prestige has the Priority Pass access which will be interesting if I ever loose *A Gold and one gets a chunk of miles for the annual fee, so to be considered
- UOB Preferred AMEX is one I'm seriously considering even though again I have a bit of a dislike for cards that tie to some very specific items like MCCs 5812-14
Oh well, mostly I use UOB PPV (online, paywave), Citi PM Amex (local spend where Amex is accepted and other cards don't yield more), Maybank HP (with RI - for overseas, ezlink), Citi rewards (department stores, clothing etc. worldwide) and a backup of DBS Altitude Visa (for SP Power and local spend that requires Visa).

I was never into miles till I stumbled onto this forum and since then, there's no looking back.
If you add CITI Prestige to your cards, I reckon that will be your fall back card over Citi PM?
I'm very happy with Citi Prestige's decision to offer unlimited PP lounge access. I just paid my annual fees very willingly for the miles.

Thanks for such a concise list! I didn't know about the UOB Visa Signature! Will apply for it. However, if I get it, then I wouldn't need the UOB PP Visa right? Since Signature will also give me 4miles/$ on paywave.Originally posted by sabian View Post

If I spend beyond 2k on the Signature, the excess spending will not earn bonus rewards but the spending below 2k will still get 4miles/$ ya?Last edited by gumption; 12 October 2014, 11:07 AM.
