  • SQ unable to assign F seat for BD redemption?

    This is new to me...

    Just confirmed a BD redemption on SQ F.

    Immediately called SQ in SIN to assign seats, and was told by the SQ phone agent that, due to SQ being unable to touch the booking at all, they would not be able to assign me a seat...??

    Of the many redemptions on SQ F/J done thru BD, I've never encountered this before...

        Yep will definitely try again later...

        Still she was the helpful type and did genuinely try to enter it into the system - even put me on hold (to talk to supervisor?)...

        Strange.

          SMS that PPS hotline...

          They can do it, don't worry... or get BD to do it... maybe someone was in that seat you wanted already?

              I have actually noticed the following message, in red, has recently started appearing on bookings when you view them on the SQ website:

              Seat selection is only available for tickets issued by Singapore Airlines

              I haven't had any problems myself yet, but then I haven't done a a BD redemption on SQ for a while now.

              Did you call the normal SQ number or the PPS line ?. It would be petty and very annoying if they did stop you booking seats.

                        I had a SQ J award booked under BD redemption. Called up Krisflyer to ask for seat selection, and had no issues at all. I did this at end of August this year.

                        Is your itin officially e-ticketed? Ie do you have E-Ticket number? Maybe it takes time to sync with SQ booking system?

                            Another related observation here.

                            Previously, my BD redemptions used to show up immediately on SQ's "My Bookings". This time it hasn't shown up.

                            Possible reasons:

                            (a) new format of BD FF# - from 1xxxxxxx to 0000xxxxxxx. I've tried to update by KF profile with the new format, but it does not accept it?

                            (b) first sector of this trip is not on SQ - but don't think this is the reason?

                            (c) other broader changes to SQ reservation system which are also preventing changes to non-SQ 618xxx.... ticket stock?
