  • Class Changed from First to Business

Anyone can explain to me. Singapore Airline send me an e-mail about my booking. I booked First Class from LHR-SIN-BKK, the aircraft has changed so I will be sit in Business class but would I be able to access to First class louge in Singapore????

"We are writing to inform you of a change of aircraft for Singapore Airlines flight SQ978 from Singapore to Bangkok on the 05 October 2009. Inview, the first class seat is no longer available as the business class seat will be the highest class of travel for this aircraft."

You will be in C for your departure from SIN. Thus SKL C access only. Looks like no F service to BKK anymore for that period of time...

Your plane now has only two classes: Economy and Business

      It's a 2-class configuration (layout).

Previously your plane had a 3-class configuration - Economy, Business and First

With the change in planes, you have been moved into Business, which is the highest premium class available.

You may want to try changing to another flight time, but it will depend on many factors - is it convenient for you, did you pay for your ticket (i.e. is this an award ticket), etc...

And that means, no SKL F lounge access.

      Good luck for your flight

Can I use the boarding pass from LHR-SIN to access First Louge?

No, you may not, as the First Lounge is accessible only on a First Class boarding pass with a departure originating from Singapore.

I.e. you need a F boarding pass ex SIN to BKK. Which is not LHR-SIN.

If they issue me the F bording from LHR-SIN and SIN-BKK but travel in C class. Am I still get to the louge? If I call SIA and change the booking where I can get First class from SIN to BKK, will they allow me to change? I redemped the ticket from Airmiles....

LX F may be an option for the SIN-BKK segment, if you wanted F service (and lounge) for the short-ish flight. It will connect nicely from SQ319 with a long-ish layover, if you're booked on it (you say F rather than R). If using miles, you can combine airlines so I would just switch the SIN-BKK to LX in your case, as you seem to be keen to get F for SIN-BKK.

PS. It's about 6 hours for layover, which means you can go into Singapore etc. But to be frank, I'd rather just connect straight away to a J flight so that I don't have to use the lounge for a long time.

On the top of everything I only wanted to use the F louge in Singapore when I arrive from London flight. I'm so sad.....

The "downgraded lounge" is really not a big loss at all, I assure you. It's nothing like losing access to VS CH, LH FCT or BA CCR etc - those lounges are actually interesting. SQ F lounge - very little difference with C lounge.

Thank you so much for the information. By the way, which lounge in LHR can I access on F class boarding pass?

Virgin Clubhouse (recommended), SQ F lounge, SAS London Lounge.

VS CH is the best lounge of all the airlines in T3 by far.

Definitely Virgin Clubhouse ... it's far, far superior to SQ's F Lounge

Same thing happened to me. LAX-NRT-SIN in F and the SIN-CMB was downgraded to J (aircraft change). Short flight so doesn't really matter. Plus its not like they were serving Krug and Caviar on that short flight in First anyways!!

So when I check in at LHR they will give me F boarding pass for LHR-SIN then C boarding pass for SIN-BKK right?
