  • Restrictions on SQ only RTW fare?

Hello everybody! I often do a *A RTW ticket with a routing of SFO-LHR-SIN-DPS-SIN-HKG-SFO. It is often significantly cheaper than the straight SFO-DPS-SFO fare. Even tho I need to spend the night in LHR and SIN.

I know that SQ offers a SQ *only* RTW fare that is far cheaper still, but I can not seem to find the restrictions on it (how many stops min/max, min/max stay, etc.) I tried calling the PPS reservation # but found the agents (in India?) were less informed than me (but that would be the subject of another thread / rant. I found the phone support took a major hit when they closed the LA office).

Would, say, IAH-DME-SIN-DPS-SIN-HKG-SFO be a valid routing? Is the SIN-DPS-SIN sector considered "backtracking"? Would I have to take the JFK-FRA-SIN to avoid the 777 F class surcharge? *IS* there a 777 F class surcharge on a RTW ticket? Is any of this information online?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

IIRC, 77W surcharge only apply on Business Class.

Correct me if I am wrong

There is no surcharge in F on flights operated by 77Ws if you are using the SQ-only FEZSQ fare. You cannot backtrack: therefore SIN-DPS-SIN must be a separate ticket.

Otherwise, the general rules applying to these fares are:

      1. No minimum stay requirement; maximum 3 months.

      2. No minimum stopover requirement

      3. 7 - day APEX requirement; cannot change the first segment after the ticket is issued.

      4. Not valid on non-stop A345 flights even if the ticket is issued in F and you wish to downgrade voluntarily.

      5. Booking class in First is "A"; therefore these fares cannot be used on A380s in R -- there's no A inventory. You can, however, voluntarily downgrade to business on an A380 flight.....in which case (if it's an FEZSQ ticket, and not CEZSQ), there's no J surcharge.

The rules are printed on this forum someplace. I've seen them at least two other times.

          New Rules: CEZSQ RTW Fares

Looks like the restriction against using SQ-only RTW fares CEZSQ and FEZSQ on the A345 has been dropped.

As of 10 June fare rules, these fares can now be used on SQ21/22 or SQ37/38. If the ticket is issued as a CEZSQ, the sector surcharge is US$900 for each A345 flight. (It's still the same mix of various prices per J sector on 77Ws and A380s -- as, for example, $600 trans-pacific).

No C surcharge if you pay the FEZSQ price..............

SQ should fire people responsible for pricing their RTW tickets:

              Fly First:

              JFK-FRA (747)
              FRA-SIN (77W)
              SIN-HKG (77W)
              HKG-SFO (edited) (77W)

Latest F most of the itinerary: USD 6699

              Fly Business:

              JFK-FRA (747)
              FRA-SIN (77W)
              SIN-EWR (345)

              Latest J seat most of the itinerary: USD 5299 + 500 + 900 = USD 6699 (!!!)

Pay First, fly Business - Only On SQ.

                      Any A345 sector: $900.00

                      SIN-Americas: $600.00

                      SIN-Europe: $500.00

                      SIN-SW Pacific: $400.00

                      SIN-South Asian Subcontinent: $300.00

                      SIN-Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia: $300.00

These C(J) surcharges are the same for *A tickets using booking class "D". That's why they show sectors such as SIN-SW Pacific that you can't actually include in a CEZSQ.

The "South Asian Subcontinent" is India/Sri Lanka/Pakistan in SQ tariff-speak; "Southeast Asia" includes China in SQ tariff-speak.

Thanks Bitterroot. Prices seem to have remained unchanged except for the A345.
