By Chan Sue Ling
Feb. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore Airlines Ltd., the world's second-largest airline by market value, said one of its aircraft made an emergency landing in Nagoya, Japan this morning due to a possible engine malfunction.
The Boeing Co. 777-200 aircraft shut down the affected engine and landed safely, Stephen Forshaw, the airline's spokesman said in an e-mailed statement. The plane was carrying 210 passengers and 13 crew members. No injuries or damage to the plane were reported, said Yoshiaki Watanabe, an airport spokesman.
``The cause of the incident is being investigated by engineers,'' Forshaw said. ``The aircraft is expected to return to service once investigations are complete and components changed.''
Singapore Air's 777-200's use Rolls-Royce Group Plc Trent 892 engines, according to the airline's Web site.
Kyodo News reported the emergency landing earlier.
