  • SQ to operate the 777F for DHL starting July 2022

Singapore Airlines and DHL Express signed a Crew and Maintenance agreement today, further deepening its long-standing partnership.

Under the agreement, SIA will operate and oversee the maintenance of five Boeing 777 freighters on behalf of DHL Express; with the first aircraft delivery from July 2022. The freighters, which will sport a dual DHL-SIA livery, will be operated by our pilots to the United States via points in North Asia. Basing these freighters at Changi Airport will further reinforce Singapore’s position as a key air cargo and e-commerce logistics hub, contributing to its growth and development.

I think SQ are clever on this.
They can expand their cargo biz with more planes without capital expenditure.

This is incorrect. SQ is merely providing crew and maintenance, the cargo capacity is fully managed by DHL Express. SQ doesn't get any additional cargo capacity, unless SQ has an agreement not mentioned in the press release to purchase capacity on the DHL 777s.
