Malayan Airways had its hub in Singapore, not Kuala Lumpur, so if they want to be pedantic about it, SQ is the successor of Malayan Airways and would therefore be 70 years old.

For some people, finding opportunities to take a jab at SQ, Changi, or Singapore, or claiming that HKG and BKK(!!) are better than SIN, or even questioning the number of terminals at SIN because of Singapore's small size, is more important than talking about the topic at hand.
