  • Bulky and fragile

    Hi all,
Not sure where to post this...
We want to bring this back to Paris in 2 week from now. It's a wooden statue. Nothing protuberant except for 1 arm. So, quite self contained. It's around 15kgs. Height is around 1m.
It's bigger than my suitcase, although I'm pretty sure I can find a soft bag Longchamp-type at Mustapha.

    What would you do:
    - check it in in a suitcase with Fragile tag and wrapped in clothes
    - check it in with an extra layer of bubble wrapping + fragile tag
    - try to bring it onboard ? Sounds silly but we will be flying Suites ? Would that be allowed ?

For lack of better solution, I would go for solution 2. My thinking is that not "hiding" it in a suitcase allows for ground handling staff to know it's something fragile - Am I over-expecting from the ground handling staff... ?

    Thanks !

I'd put it in a generous, robust double wall cardboard box, using some bubble wrap as you have done around the item, but in the main styrofoam pellets. Check it in with a fragile tag.

I'm fairly sure it won't be allowed in the cabin.

I did this with a framed painting some years ago. No problems.
