You'll find the cabin far more open than SQ First: there's much more space as the First class area starts aft of door 1. Like Howard says, row 2 has a huge amount of space with only the magazine rack in the middle. Other differences are the ottoman (electrically movable), the video screen (pop-up from the side, not at the front) and the window blinds (electric). The seat is a little narrower than the SQ First suite, but I had no problems (and I'm tall/wide).

Personally I preferred the amount of space and the ambience on the MH plane to that on a full SQ 744.

Just flew that route in 2A on Thursday on the leased 744. Absolutely, this is the row to go for if travelling alone.

It was only showing five in F on check in, with the two seat pairs already taken. My intention was to move up to row 1 in the event that no-one else snagged a seat. In the end there were five op-ups so it was nearly full.

Row 1 is OK but the two seats are much much closer together. There's almost a football field between the seats in row 2.

    So, definitely row 2.

    Cheers, Howard

    Probably fine?

9V-SPR (ex 9M-MPE) will be heading to TLV to undergo B744F BDSF conversion to join 9M-MPC then they will both be delivered to World (USA) after the SQ lease is up.

Just out of curiosity is this aircraft still on a 10-month lease? That would mean that it would be returned some time around late-April '08 or has the lease been extended?

    Thanks.

I have a booking next year on SQ285 and in My Bookings there is a little notice next to it saying 'Alert for SQ285', and the following message when you click on it:

    Flight Number: SQ 285
    Alert for SQ285

Notice for passengers booking on SQ285/SQ286: We are operating these two flights with a leased Boeing 747-400 aircraft. We would like to inform you ahead of time that while the cabins are comparable to what we offer onboard our own aircraft, there are some cabin differences. The seats in First and Business Class are not the same as the Skysuites and Spacebeds in our own Boeing 747 aircraft.
