  • How is 9V-SSI being scrapped? It is stored as 2-VISS at Teruel.

    • SSI is not scrapped. Guess they used the damage part to do up the items.

I'm still trying to ponder what will happen to SWJ, SWK, SWL, SWN, and SWY. Some are stored in ASP, others are in SIN. Bear in mind that SQ is reinstating many routes (Some are coming back with F, like AKL, which they recently announced). About the older frames SWD, SWE, and SWF, they did say in last year's report that they would be retired and not coming back. SWY is still about 6-7 years old I think.

According to planespotters.net latest update, the airframe has been partially scrapped. Apparently the incident at RGN was so bad that the airframe actually creased at some part, that explains the low altitude return flight to SIN before being sent off to TEV, also at low altitude of not more than 10,000 fleet, via Sharjah. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/9VSSI

The incident report was published in June 2021, blaming pilot error. https://dcamyanmar.com/dcadca/images...NES_9V-SSI.pdf

The pics of the aircraft's damages are in the report and it was quite bad. They did some temp repair in RGN and flew the aircraft back unpressurized. Permanent repair was done before the aircraft was sent to owner. Aircraft flew at normal crusing altitude on its final flight out of SIN.

            • Based on the FY2022/2023 press release, it looks like SQ has made some adjustments to its aircraft orders.

They have cancelled 8 Boeing 737-8 orders (from 21 to 13), swapped 3 Boeing 787-9 aircraft bound for Scoot (from 4 to 1) to 3 Boeing 787-10 aircraft bound for SQ (from 12 to 15). They seem to have also removed 1 order for A321neo bound for Scoot (from 7 to 6).

              Total orders now
              For SQ
              3 A350-900
              13 B737-8
              31 B777-9
              15 B787-10

              For Scoot
              12 A320neo
              6 A321neo
              3 B787-8
              1 B787-9

                • Is there any more news on their remaining A350 & 787 deliveries? I know we recently got SJF & SCS (out of sequence).

There’s no news on the Boeing 777-9’s but I guess it’s still on schedule and no other delays compared to last Spring where they said a year more delay.

Either way I guess SQ could receive their first 779 in late 2025 or 2026 because on another forum I saw some line #’s and there are a few SQ 779’s in those line numbers. Maybe they’ll be getting them in mid 2025 (assuming all goes well with Boeing’s TIA/FAA tests).

Current 77W - Sounds like SWJ, SWK, SWM, SWN need to be reactivated.

                  • FR24 showed 9V-SWK pinging in ASP on 05/27. Sometimes this tends to be a sign that they will be bringing back another 77W.

All that’s left from ASP perspective is SWJ (Star Alliance Livery). From SIN, it would be SWM & SWN, both of which haven’t flown since Christmas 2021 on cargo flights.

                    • SWK (SQ8894) is showing up on the flight board as arriving tomorrow (10 June) from ASP at 18.15.

Looks like I was right. This is the same with CX’s 77W on FR24. IIRC, SWK was stored in ASP in 2021 but before that it was doing revenue flights even during the pandemic.

Now we’ll see when SWJ returns. It’s been parked for a year and 3 months, but has not done revenue service for over 3 years.

Skyliner-aviation.de is reporting SWK will be returning to lessor. Will need to wait for some time to confirm this.

SWK has not done any revenue flights since its return in ASP, so my guess is it could be leaving the fleet, let's wait and see.

SWK re-entered revenue service yesterday (25 July) so that might not have been accurate.

                              • I rest my case. If it did re-enter, my guess is after its very long storage in ASP, it was in maintenance for a while and decided to put it on a few short flights before sending it back long-haul.

The only other plane is SWJ, which is the only other 77W parked in ASP. SWM and SWN are in SIN, I'm sure they will eventually return to service.

I'm still banking on SWD-SWF to be the candidates of the 77W going to AI. The only question after that is will they deploy the plane with the SQ interior or retrofit it with a different interior scheme? In my opinion, the 2013 seats still look as brand new as they did when I flew the 2013 cabin products back in late 2016 (and they were one of the most comfortable out there compared to the current 2017 Y class seats which are quite cramped and narrow).
