1. families with kids/passengers needing assistance
2. First/Business/PPS
3. Star Gold/KF Gold
4. regular econ (back to front)
If indeed they're lumping PPS in with *G/KF EG rather than boarding them with business/first, that's yet another reason why PPS is basically useless.
The sequence is correct and is being practiced system wide.
There are some situations that may result in a loss of ego:
They may have called for Gold KF to board soon after accepting families etc.
Arriving late for boarding for whatever reasons, the queues would have built up especially in Y class, and trying to nudge a way through can be annoying.
You could attempt and succeed in boarding through First or J.. but you'll encounter the usual choke points along the ailse anyway.
In Y class boarding is normaly 30 mins prior to departure..yet, being early ( or punctual ) when the boarding call is made by the gate holding room staff yields the best results.
The other situation could be a faulty aero bridge and all boarding is done through 1 door only.
The words/symbols on the sign could have been crafted better though.
Boarding is in this order and it's quite strictly enforced now.
I really wish they would enforce it much more strongly because it hasn't been in my experience.
I always sit right at the back of Y and when the call is made for the last few rows to begin, almost the whole lounge rises to their feet and forms a line. The pleasant, smiling staff let them all through and then every single flight I'm held up by two passengers slowly deciding how to arrange and then rearrange their luggage above seats 32B and 32C.
I'm waiting for the day I see the gate staff ask someone to return to the gate seating and wait their turn for the front of Y. I really am....
When you arrive at the gate from the lounge there is often a long queue at economy, star gold should be welcomed in the business lane. you can not expect them to join the economy queue or ask people in the queue to go ahead of them.
SQ treat *G in Y appallingly, this shows in the lack of showers in the lounges in Singapore and now this... join the economy queue thanks.
Maybe it's the different way we utilised this priority boarding.
I don't go sit at the gate early to get ready to board the aircraft first. I know some passengers had to do this because they got bigger carry-ons and need to make sure there are enough space in the overheads to accomodate their stuff. For me, all my stuff are always checked-in.
Besides, there is this lower-tier lounge to visit (Elite Gold not entitled to visit premium Kris Lounge) so, normally when we reached the gate, boarding had already begun. There is no chance to listen to any boarding sequence calls. What is always nice for me is that with KF Gold, I get to go to the left lane to board instead of having to join the right long queue at the back.
30,000 miles on CX get me Silver Marco Polo which was equal to SQ Elite Gold; 30 Kg baggage allowance, Premium Class check-in as well as same Premium Marco Polo Lounge as Premium Class passengers. Now, SQ Elite Gold is beginning to loses out to CX.....CX always allow all Silver Marco Polo members to use the premium class boarding lane.

Yep, CX MPC Gold will get preferrential treatment at check-in counters too; if you're lucky and bought the W, S or Y fares, better chance for you to bump to J on certain routes (don't even have to ask, they do it automatically). I don't think SQ would ever upgrade you because you're EG or *G at the check-in counter.
