SQ856 turns back due to engine fault

SINGAPORE - A Singapore Airlines A380 plane heading towards Hong Kong from Singapore on Thursday morning was forced to turn back 20 minutes into the flight due to an engine fault.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the flight SQ856 carried 220 passengers and crew on board.

Jun-13 and Jul-01 A380 to Tokyo/LA was delayed too. Reason unknown. Boarding procedures from Tokyo and LA is always in a mess.

All of sq a380s are RR engines. In fact, all of SQ's aircrafts with the exception of B773ER are RR fitted.

I think that's what happens when the whole upper deck is J on a short 3.5hr flight. It can be quite difficult getting a Y seat on this one.

I guess if you buy them, you have to fly them somewhere...

This is why I'm always so dubious of Emirates. They ordered 90 A380s!

A recipe to lose money and go under the first moment things don't go as planned, IMHO. Just even imagine the size DXB would have to be rebuilt to in order to handle that many air-bridges, tarmac and facilities for interchaning passengers...
