  • Thai J class from London

Flying to BKK from London in October and was wondering if anybody has any up to date reports on TG J class and how good it is - Also what are the J class lounges like in London and BKK

There's PLENTY of info on the other end of a simple search. You probably won't be thrilled by the results though.

It's TG, so it's hit and miss.

Official TG lounge at LHR is the London Lounge used by AS, SK etc. You are entitled to use the SKL as well but I have seem them knock TG pax back from there a couple of times when the lounge is busy, and also when it's empty but the lounge dragon said it's full.

You have a choice of lounges at BKK. The D lounge is the first and largest you enter after clearing immigration and going down the escalators. I tend to use the lounges on the C pier (there are two opposite each other) as they don't seem to get as busy. Having said that TG recently started trying to stop *A Golds not flying TG using the D lounge so it has got a bit quieter.

You will be able to use the Spa lounge for one of the quicker (ie not full body) massage's.

You're forgetting to mention where to get proper food...

Nope, it's not that bad. There's far worse.

would it be a good 4*airline? I have flown recently in J

                SIA
                EI
                BA
                VS

Virgin and Sia are my favorites to be honest - Had a choice of Ethiad and TG and swung to TG due to the timing of the flights to be honest - Also if Im missed my connecting flight in Abu Dhabi for some reason I was stick there for 24 hours - Have searched but cant find any TR on the TG J class

                  I've done TG J for DXB-(MAA)-BKK, not LHR-BKK.

I'm going to defer to the experts on this route here (MAN, where are you?) - but having done SIN-AMS in a Spacebed vs DXB-BKK on TG's old J (hardly the best comparison, but they are still longhaul segments both ways), I would say I preferred SQ's a teensy bit more. I think you shouldn't go in expecting too much on any airline nowadays. Except premium NH and NZ. Because they really go all out to be just *so awesome*.

SK J also ain't half bad!

I've heard TK (LHR-IST-BKK) would also be something to consider, and it's supposed to be quite decent. I don't fly on EI, BA or VS, therefore am not in a position to comment on that aspect.

I would definitely have chosen Etihad if the timings had worked out - fully flat beds and reportedly better-than-average service

As someone else said, TG is hit and miss. Personally I think the long haul J seats are just as good as the SQ Spacebeds and the touch screen AVOD is more user friendly (although less choice) than first generation Krisworld. However, that's where the comparison ends. Everything else about the service is more like Premium Economy than Business - even the meals (e.g. at least one of the main course choices for any given meal is identical to that served in Economy)

The BKK lounges are pretty nice though... I prefer them to the SQ SIN lounges, although of course they're not a patch on the Clubhouse...

I flew TG LHR-BKK in J on the night flight last month. Used the SKL instead of the London Lounge - just a personal preference.

I thought the service onboard was excellent and quite personal, but that might have been prompted by my agreeing without a fuss to a request from the FA to move from 16B to 16J to accommodate a pair of PITA kids who wanted to sit together. While the bulkhead and exit rows aren't available for advance seat assignment, I snagged 16B via online checkin, so they are made available then.

Food was good, wine was forgettable, and while the seat isn't the best (SQ, NW and LX slanted seats are all better than TG's slanted seats) I got 6 hours of decent sleep. The upstairs bins can't take a 20" rollaboard, so you have to stow it downstairs.

Bottom line, I'd prefer BA on this sector for the flat bed, but TG award availability is quite decent, so one must do what one has to do.

TG allows kids in the exit row? Did I read you wrongly?

I am now thinking should I take a chance on the connections and change to Ethiad
