This past 6 months, I had flown NH for NRT-LAX quite a few times. Good flight, unfortunately still not SQ.
But, today, I just took NH5 from LAX-NRT, it was the best ever I had on NH flight. Perfect score. If SQ 11/12 get less priority, NH will be the best option for this route.
Once aboard, she helped me with my jacket and carry-on. Immediately asked whether I wanted to change to something more comfortable. Thus, I did not resist changing to pjs right away. Then, once I was seated back again, the purser came to introduce herslf. And the most important one, this time, no hesitation in serving Krug. Yup, Krug was flowing almost the whole flight time. When it's time to have lunch, I could order many things without being told, it would be too much. Furthermore, she gave a good recommendation for which meals go along with what I would like to have. The pacing of meal service was perfect. Not too rush, and not too slow. Of course, NH still uses the plastic knives.
When the time for a nap, she made the bed fairly quickly. Same for the meal service before landing. Actually, the flight was scheduled for 4:20pm arrival. Thus, I decided to have the meals at 1pm, as another lunch service. Again, my Japanese lunch was good (well except I am not fond of fermented beans), and in addition to that, I had wagyu beef ribs with soya sauce over rice. It was very good.
Definitely, if all the FAs on NH F are the same quality as these two ladies, I will jump ship easily, especially with the notion of "SQ doesn't love me anymore."
In short, beware SQ, looks like a tough competition for the route LAX-NRT vv.
