That's a misleading headline. SQ and QF's engines are physically the same engine with no differences. It's just that the QF's engines have 2000lbs more max thrust available than SQ's engines. It's just a programming thing.

SINGAPORE: A Qantas Boeing 747 plane bound for Frankfurt was delayed at Singapore's Changi Airport for about an hour on Monday morning.
Qantas said the delay was due to a technical problem. It did not elaborate further, except saying that the problem was not engine-related.
The plane was in transit in Singapore from Sydney.
QF5 took off for Frankfurt at about 10am.

Poor Qantas.. they're having a tough time these days. After making the headlines for two engine failures, even a technical delay (albeit not related to the engine) makes it to the news

Strange, SQ pass all their A380 after checking and return them to service.Originally posted by zilchster View PostSQ and LH would also be changing engines of its 380 aircraft fleet, according to a report. [...while Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa said engine replacements were required on two planes.]
Meanwhile this report warns that Further delays may occur if the demand for spare engines exceeds worldwide spares, Epstein says. "As far as engines go, there are not a lot of Trent [900] engines around the world."

"In a strange turn of events, Captain Champion de Crespigny, who has been hailed a hero, was a passenger on the Boeing flight that was also turned back"
Seems to me that the poor skipper's having a hard time getting out of Singapore........

His name is Richard Champion de Crespigny. The Daily Hate Mail gets things wrong? Never been known to happen!
Most of the A380 crew were also paxing on the 747 that had to turn back. The poor things must feel so jinxed.Originally posted by Aulia Harun View PostApparently, the pax on the A380 blowout flight were in the 747 engine failure flight too! I wonder how they must have felt going through two engine failures on two flights in less than two days!
