i took vietnam air from tpe to hcmc and onto siem reap and i was happy as a clam in economy. true, their chardonnay tasted like it had been spiked with popov's vodka, but the service wasn't bad, the place was new, and i got to my destination without delay. i would definitely fly them again over several other airlines.

Emirates has the potential to be a true 5-star Airline, for the moment it can hold on to the "starry star" airline moniker with its onboard lighting simulating a night skyline filled with stars (like a flight in the Arabian nights!) and the warm glow of sunrise/sunset
Le jour de Saint Eugène, en traversant la Calle Mayor...

I once said in A.net:
There's some things money can't buy. For everything else, there is Emirates Airlines.
EK can spend a fortune on hardware, but it takes much more than just money to get the software.Help make this article a better one!

sailaway75 and I did 4 sectors on EK recently .......we were only impressed with their IFE and their extravagance on certain other things like miles

EK can emulate Singapore Airlines but they will never succeed in triumphing and beating a legacy global premier airline like SIA. Thats something that they need to understand, yes you have the money to stick showers in the planes and the money to buy huge amount of planes, but its useless when your internal customer service is inconsistent. EK is imo a gimmick airline.

something which made me curious and took my attention is the recent tail strike incident with the EK plane in Melbourne, which turns out could have been way worse..... and I quote
THE pilots -- who are not Australians -- were interviewed by investigators the day after the crash, but have now left Australia and have resigned from Emirates.
resigned ?? hmmm sounds a bit suspicious to me... link below if further reading required
