  • Any Air Berlin Experience?

I am planning a trip to Europe with my family, just 3 of us, and consider using Air Berlin for some intra-european flights.
DUS-VIE return and DUS-Rhodes or Mykonos return.

The other options I am considering is LH and OS and maybe LX to the same destinations.
Air Berlin has some really good fares compared to LH and the others but I am just wondering how their (Air Berlin's) reliability is and service/customer care.
When I am alone I am not to worried if things don't go according to plan but I will be travelling with a 6 year old and want to make sure that even if there will be a problem that it's well taken care of.

Really appreciate anyone's input who travelled with Air Berlin and even LTU.
    Thanks.

I flew with Air Berlin many times in 2004, mainly from STN to DUS & return. They are a strange airline, a sort of mix between low cost carrier & full service. On the flights you get a german roll and small drink for food (which is quite tasty). The customer care is ok - i found it depends on who you speak to as to what rules they want to apply (eg sometimes I could change flights for free, sometimes it would cost EUR25). They don't have an alliance with other airlines, except maybe Lauda Air (as far as I know) and I don't think they have lounges. I never had any issues with delays with them, so I'd say from my experience they are quite reliable.

    Hope this helps
