  • Hand luggage

Hello, I would be travelling BKK-SIN return. My hand luggage would exceed the 7kg limit of most Asian carriers. It would most likely be more than 10kg.

I cannot check my hand luggage because it's all camera equipment. I would be travelling in economy. Is there any airline which would allow me to pay extra for hand luggage? Jetstar? SQ? TG? Tiger? MH?

    Many thanks.

Most full service carriers won't blink an eyelid if you hang the camera body around your neck whilst bringing the rest of the hand carry luggage

Quite right. I've brought in a whole backpack of cam equipment - at least 10kg - on to SQ, no problems at all.

Yeah, as long as you don't have a massive laptop bag as well that is also packed full of stuff, there wouldn't be a problem. You are allowed an "additional item" as well as the 7kg, such as a laptop computer. I have a very large heavy laptop in quite a big laptop bag and nobody has ever said anything to me.

Very occasionally they weigh onboard luggage but you'd be quite okay if you do as Kyo says and have your largest, heaviest camera as your other item.

Not quite BKK, but if you're willing to schlep across to DMK
