But I have seen numerous bad reviews of AF. And you have to admit, their cabin crew are renowned for their rudeness. But I'm not sure if it's to SilverChris' extent
I won't mind paying SGD300 more for SQ if it means an enjoyable flight.

I don't know about any reputation for rudeness (I've not heard) but as far as my limited experience (as above) goes, I had no complaints about the AF staff (both in the air and on the ground).
I'm sure you can find bad reviews of any airline, e.g. taking SilverChris's example of a video of AF check-in staff, just try Googling "Singapore Airlines checkin rude" and have a read of those. Don't trust all that you read though - personal experience is always best!
There are some carriers which I would think twice about taking - no matter the price - due to their safety records but AF is not one of them. Airline food (having tried SQ R, NH/BA/CX/QF/etc F and lots of Y) is not exactly pleasant and at worse, I won't eat for 10+ hours. I bring on board my own IFE. Seat pitch in Y is much the same.
At the end of the day, it's down to how important the price is to you. If SQ is SGD300 more and you don't mind paying that for an enjoyable flight (i.e. something you're familiar and happy with), then go for SQ. On the other hand, why not also consider giving AF a try - broaden your experience etc ?
The reason why I have a fairly bad impression of AF is because my partners have all complained about them. It's not that I don't want to broaden my experience, it's just that it's a trip I want to be enjoyable.
I have flown too many long haul AF flights, all in J or F, but not so many this year. I only flew the CDG > SIN sector once (in F) in March as I had no other option, so not sure if this is representative as it was in the other direction?
My experience is as follows:
- F is obviously better than J in terms of service and cabin product...
- Don't ask questions or requests to the crew, as you can become the problem passenger regardless of class or status
- Lower your expectations in food, the cheese and desserts are the exceptions. SQ could learn from AF on the cheese front (selection)
- Speak a little French, it helps, for sure it should not be necessary
