  • Jetstar's Non-Reclining Seats?

    Hi all,

First post here and I'm sorry it is to complain.

Anyway, as the title suggest, is Jetstar switching to non-reclining seats?

It's been 3 years since I've last traveled with Jetstar and as I recalled, their seats do recline back then.

Recently returned from Hong Kong on 18th July. The flight was supposed to be 2030hrs on 17th July, but it was delayed till 0300hrs the next day due to "operational requirements". Imagine my shock when I found out I couldn't recline my seat to get some sleep at 3am in the morning.

When the cabin crew came down the aisle to ask if they can help with anything, it was kinda funny that a lot of passengers asked, "Can you help recline my seat?"

Also, the flight that I was on was booked using my friend's name, i.e. the itinerary is under my friend's name. So am I entitled to the SGD100 Jetstar voucher? I tried to claim it from Jetstar's website -> www.jetstar.com/au/en/customer-voucher, but was told that my booking wasn't in their system!

Its weird that the seats did not recline, what did the flight attendant replied when you told them the seats would not recline?

They just said, "Sorry the seats are unable to recline." Smile and walked off.

That article was from February. I wonder how large is that "small sub-fleet"?

I'm sure there'll be angry international passengers too.

Additionally, emergency exit seats on Jetstar A320s do not recline.
All opinions shared are my own, and are not necessarily those of my employer or any other organisation of which I'm affiliated to.

All of 3K's new birds have this special feature.
That's why I fly more with TR now. (caught between a rock and a hard place)

KeithMEL, isn't is a standard for EMEX seat not to recline in A320s? (But i think the 2nd row of EMEX seats do recline unlike the 1st EMEX row and the normal row in front so as not to impede EMEX).

Not only A320s, 737s too. I think this is the standard in narrow body aircrafts.

Leather seats .... What a pity they can't recline.

Yeah, now I'm considering taking Tiger. Only thing I dislike is the budget terminal.

However, on TR2962 to Hong Kong, the row 13 EMEX seat can recline. So is it just Jetstar that do not allow reclining at EMEX seats?

Also, is there a way to find out which of Jetstar's birds will the ones without reclining seats? I need to make an urgent trip to Taiwan next week or the week after and I plan to utilize the SGD100 voucher they are providing me.

As an afterthought, what about JQ's A330s? Are there economy seats subject to similar non-reclining restrictions too?

I actually do like the budget terminal bec I shuttle between SGN and SIN once/ 2-3 weeks, soon to be 1/week .

After a while, I just want to be out of the airport asap and on my way home. 3K flights are almost always at the furthest possible slot from the taxi stand.

You can be at the taxi stand 5mins after you step off the aircraft. (no check in luggage+self service passport machine).

There are always 2 EMEX rows for 3K, TR and VY (from BCN-FCO at least) and probably other budget operators of A320s. The 2nd row can recline at the exit path is to the front of it.

I doubt they will restrict recline on A330s, it will be difficult to compete. But drop them a line to confirm.

but at times, Tiger planes do parked quite a distance away on arrival and its a looong walk to the arrival immigration clearance.
