WARNING this report is filled with grouses, grumbles and complaints due to the amount of bad luck contained

Please do give me pointers on how to make the report better as it is going to be a very long one and i do not wish to let
anyone suffer reading my first ever trip report .

“ HELLO ! Changi airport Terminal Three please ! ”
“ Terminal Three arh ? Okay ”

This marks the start of my first ever Trip Report . There are so many wonderful reports on this forum and i’ve finally decided to do one Dent@SUB got me going on this one . This trip report would cover my entire trip of 5 sectors .
SIN-HND ; HND-KOJ ; KOJ-ITM ; ITM-HND ; HND-SIN
I had a very rough time trying to get tickets and after constantly changing my flights EVERY DAY for ten days leading up to my trip I would fly Economy on all sectors due to me having burst the year’s travel budget .
After having dinner prepared by my other half and having to hear her constant grouses(she didn’t want to come to save me some money) about me being away for seventeen days , it was finally time for me to jump into a cab and go to the airport . Accompanying me on this trip is One Cabin Bag , One Cargo Bag , One softsided luggage , One Laptop Bag and One Box Of Cookies ( More on this later )

Jumping out of the cab , went to the baggage drop as i checked in online with seat 52A . Upon passing through immigration , went to shop abit and i finally decided to take a look at my boarding pass . "Gate B8 !!! Why must all my flights to Japan leave at the each end of T3 ???"Looking at my watch , the time was 2120 and looking at the signage , it was about a 14 minute walk to B10 .

Hmm ... I started brisk walking with my laptop in hand trying to shut it down as well as my box and duty free items .Upon reaching Gate B8

There were no queues and i went straight to board the plane .

Before boarding , i noted YI on the landing gear door . i thought to myself “ Since when did the 77W have Y in its registration ? GREAT , i got an equipment swap .” Got a friendly greeting as i boarded the plane and made my way through the business class section . As i did i started smiling to myself , i’m glad i didn’t pay that much to sit in one of those recliners ( Thank god my travel allowance didn’t get a top up) and i heard a lady exclaiming " WAAA . VERY NICE LEH" If she saw the 77W J class i wonder what she would have said ? Walking through to the last cabin , i noticed that the flight wasn’t as full as i thought . At row 51 , this lady was stuffing her bag with the pillows and blankets . She got caught by a crew member and the lady was pretty defensive ... Seriously , what’s so good about airplane’s blankets and pillows ! Thousands have used it before her :X
Reaching row 52 , i saw that a Japanese lady was seated in 52C . She was quite friendly and had a very good command of English . I settled down in my seat and saw how worn the armrest was and how dirty my seat was


I decided to press the lumbar support and it didn;t work . I pressed the recline and the seat didn’t budge . i pressed the cushion inflate and it didn’t work . i tried the middle seat it didn’t work . i asked my seatmate and what do you know ! It didn’t work as well ...
How worn are their 773s anyway !!!!
As everyone started to spread out and there was no free window seats in my cabin , i decided to stick with my seat . Legroom was adequate though i wished i had more as i have had an knee injury which cause alot of discomfort when i sit in confined spaces .

How much royalties do i owe per legroom shot ?

2149 - Doors Closed , Announcement made by Captain Simon on all the usual stuff .
2152- Pushback commenced with the giving out of warm towels .
2156- Engine startup as well as safety video being played .
2159- Taxi commenced . It was a very very long taxi to runway 02C .

Along the way , I saw 6 SQ A380s docked very near to each other at gates B-2,4,5 and A-2,4,10 . We were number 5 in line for T/O after a AirAsia 320 , UPS 757 , SQ 773 , QF 330 and a Silkair A320 made a very hard landing before us .
2217 - Takeoff was quite powerful ! It’s been a long time since i had pilots apply more than a de-rated trust for takeoff .
I saw the JAL plane behind us as well as the ANA flight a long way behind . ANA arrived before the JAL flight .
We lifted off into the clouds ,leveled off,ascend, followed by a steep right bank , leveled off , ascend , level , soft left and ascend again . There was a full moon which was reflecting off the plane’s wing
2227- *Ding Seatbelts signed turned off and the cabin crew made the normal announcements . I don’t comprehend why when the seatbelts are turned off , there is a mad dash for the lavatories ? We then encountered some light bumps about a minute after the seatbelt sign was extinguished . Menus were distributed .


The 3 folks infront of me reclined their seat all the way back and the guy seated in 51C had a recline that was class leading ! My seatmate could spit in his face anytime . His seat was spoilt and he could enjoy a recline that could beat the raffles class seats ! :O
2235-2315 - Seatbelt sign turned on due to moderate turbulence . After the bumbs subsided . Peanuts were given out as well as drinks which were placed on the tray .
??? - Supper service started . Both meals and drinks was terribly distributed in haphazard way . Some people were served , some weren’t . The japanese crew serving me seemed new and needed some help from the Leading Stewardess . The LS didn’t seem to want to be on that flight . No smiles from her and questions on meals and drinks were asked with (idk hw to describe it)... thanks were met with ignorance ... The meal was ... Disgusting . It seems that SQ’s meal in Y seem to be getting worse .

The marinated seafood starter was good

but the beef pasta was horrid .
To make matters worse , the 3 infront didn’t bother rasing up their seats ! :@ They left it that way the entire flight . SELFISH buggers . I could see everyone had their seats upright except them ! :@
2343 - Lights were dimmed and ice cream was given out . When the LS reached my row , she put out her hands to give out the ice cream and retracted it ... 0.0 she said she would give it out later ... WTH?
2348- Seatbelt signed turned on , drink service suspended .
ONE THING THAT ANNOYED ME WAS HOW LOUD THE ANNOUNCEMENTS SOUNDED WITH MY OWN EARPHONES . IT WAS SO LOUD MY EARS HURT !
1200 - The seatbelt signs were extinguished and the crew came around to collect the meals . My ice cream was finally served to me and it was those cheap nestle ones .. Oh wells it tasted good but it was frozen and my teeth couldn’t bite though ! It was as though i was eating a rock !

I only had the starter and nibbled on some beef

1230 - Lights off . I decided to visit the washroom to see whether the amenities were still there and to freshen up before i try to get some sleep . When i flew EWR-SIN there was not even a single toothbrush in any of the lavatories and on my MXP-SIN flight i found one piece in the entire Y cabin .

Toilets were nice and clean , as always on SQ

1250 - i decided to turn in and with no recline ... it was hard .
0100 - The lights were turned on ! ZZZ . i didn’t even manage to sleep one wink and they turned on the lights . In fact , this went on and on through out the entire flight each time someone decided to press the attendant call button !!!
I decided to watch a movie and created a playlist and stayed up the entire flight .


First time noticing this !
The flight had some bumps here and there but remained pretty much alright . When i looked out the window , an amazing sight greeted me . Cloud formations which i’ve never seen before . The only thing i can describe about them is that they were flat and covered everything . You couldn’t see anything below

It calmed me down and i finally started to enjoy the flight even though i was clearly deceiving myself .

Our Airspeed was steadily increasing throughout the flight .
Especially when we were getting closer to Tokyo












Soon enough the Continental Breakfast service started with a bun , fruits , and a banana muffin . I had the muffin and the tea as i was still quite full and the bun was well ... like a rock .




0330 - The captain came on and said that descend would start shortly and it was raining in Tokyo with a temperature of 14 degrees .

0334 - Descend started . It was so bumpy due to the very thick clouds . We had very strong turbulence and many many drops . When we were about to land , we hit pretty bad turbulence and many overhead compartments sprung opened .
0342- We kissed the ground nicely and used full reverse trust as well as some pretty hard braking . We didn’t use the entire runway ( looks like he braked too much ) and vacated at the end of the runway 34 . We were the first flight into Haneda . We beat the JAL and ANA plane .
0409(0509 GMT+8) - Docked at gate 108(LAST aerobridge gate(Nice walk again)) and engines were shut down .

Finally , we arrived and i couldn’t wait to get off the plane ! After walking through the cabin and thanking the crew , it was a brisk walk to immigration with no queue for the Japanese Passport Holders .
I was surprised that the baggage carousel was right after the immigration counters !

It was there that i realised i left my cookies onboard the plane !!! I asked the ground staff and she radioed in to ask them to check for my cookies . Guess what ? i was off the plane 7 minutes ago and my cookies are gone from the overhead compartment ! wth ... This is absurd . I remember closing the compartment while leaving my seat and there was nothing in it . How could it disappear ! This wasn’t a good start to the trip and the trip was really jinx after that... The cookies were specially made by my beloved for myself and my family for Christmas ! She stayed up the entire night to bake them and i was so upset that i was such a klutz to have left it onboard . At that very moment , i felt so much hatred and disappointment that i cursed the person who took my cookies .
It took forever for my bags to come out . Infact , it was one of the last !

Finally it was through to customs and went to the arrival hall to check in for my SNA flight . I couldn’t do it there and had to go to the domestic terminal .





As it was still early , i sat down and used the net and went to check out the prices for a wi-fi router . It was terribly expensive !

I took the bus to the domestic terminal and it was very full .
I had trouble trying to get all my bags in and some kind hearted gentleman helped me with it .


This finally marks the end of my first sector .

In answer to your question re bathrooms I always go as early as possible after seatbelts off for two reasons - I need to wash my hands before eating, and I know the aisles will be jammed with carts for the next few hours. Oh and to pinch a toothbrush for later.

Looks like you got some nice winds to get the high groundspeed.

These things happen to the best of us... I've found that, the sooner you get the bad ones out of the way, the sooner you can start enjoying the good ones

The quality of food has been sliding pretty badly in recent times , though , to be fair , i've had some great meals onboard with them in recent months too .

Uhhh .... I see!!! But i somehow find that the queues get terribly long .
I wanted to see whether we could hit 1100km/h but right after the last pic , we slowed down
